You saw Alessandro Safina perform live? He sang Ha Mang Yeon in Dae Jang Geum.. you must have heard it about 50 times without realizing that it was him singing it (if you watch the series once -- Of course, you would have watch the scene when they were standing on the cliff and MJH confessed that he was feverish about 50 times so that would be 50+50=100). ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1Ir5VBYnk8

Oops, didn't see this reply until now! I did see Safina perform live, at the Night of the Proms concert in Antwerp, back in 2000 that must've been. I can't believe he actually sang on the DJG soundtrack!!! That just seems so weird to me... although I realize an Italian singer singing Korean is no sillier than a Belgian girl trying to learn Korean I remember this one song that I really liked, I found it on Youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pz5Ee-JuA60I must say he looked better in the flesh than he does in this video though. Although I do remember thinking he was quite hot when I saw him in 2000 (edit: this clip explains why a bit better www.youtube.com/watch?v=l14PyU8UTv0&mode=related&search=)... but then of course I had never heard the name "Ji Jin-Hee" uttered in 2000 P.S.: This has nothing to do with the above & thus is totally off topic, but listening to one italian voice made me want to listen to this other one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NAYQ3THbfY&mode=related&search=Ok, now I've had enough goosebumps for one evening

Aw, eva.. thanks for posting a link for AS. I had no idea that he looks like that-- with that voice, I had pictured him sort of looking more like Pavarotti. Now when I hear the theme song, I'll have to some good looking Italian guy him singing it. Wow.. not bad at all!
And I love that song by Andrea Bocelli, Con te partiro. It gave me lots of goosebumps. I used to cry when I hear it, now I just tear up. I love it but it makes me feel so very sad, same as 'In the Arms of an Angel' and 'Tears in Heaven'. It's way off topic now, but do you know this piece of music from 'the Gladiator'? I am not sure, but I think that's also in Italian. I also love that.

I had never heard of Safina until I saw him live (Night of the Proms, where I saw him, is a concert concept where a bunch of different artists play alongside a classical orchestra, so you get to see, for instance, Coolio rapping to violins and cellos )... so when Safina came on stage, I was expecting a pop song, with his looks... imagine my surprise when he started singing!!! "Con te partiro" makes me sad too, though I've been told it's actually not a sad song. Something about lovers saying goodbye to their past lives to go on together. I have no way of telling, I don't know any Italian and google translator wasn't that helpful either. Are those two other songs you mentioned by Bocelli as well? I'll see if I can find them, haven't heard those before. I've only seen "Gladiator" once and ehmm... fell asleep during it (in my defense: I'd had a very rough night prior to watching it ;D ). Next time I see it, I'll keep an ear out for that music you mentioned!

Eva.. you fell asleep in Gladiator?? It's a pretty piece of music but it's nothing if you weren't touched by the story. I was going through a Russell Crowe phrase then, anyway.. there are a few copies of the theme in youtube if you are interested. Just type Gladiator theme. You are right about Conte Portiro. I don't think it was not meant to be such a sad song. The other songs -- Eric Clapton and Sarah McLaughlin.. I think I put the songs together because they are often played while we have are saying goodbye (final) to someone. On happier note.. return back to JJH thread for some lovely picture viewing.
