It occured to me that people might not have set their VCRs correctly, since the show started shortly after 8:50 a.m., not at 9, so I'm posting the first couple of scenes.
First, we see a montage of the scenes where JG decided to become a physician--(1) she runs to Captain Min and tells him that she can get back to the palace that way, and then she can take revenge on her enemies, which he agrees is a wonderful thing; (2) she bows to doctorlady and humbly begs to be trained; (3) she is beaten by doctorlady on backs of legs for not knowing correct answers, and then begins reciting them over scenes of her running around looking at faces and studying people and making medicine and looking at patients in hospice; (4) she is confronted by Jung Woon-baek (the pharmacist from the herb garden)--when she tells him she's doing this to get revenge, he yells at her and says no physician can have that attitude and if that's hers, she should just quit (I never saw this scene before); (5) she is talking to doctorlady in shed, who says, yes, I trapped you this way, you now have to choose between being a real doctor and just wanting revenge; and (6) JG walks along seashore, being watched by Cap Min, who apparently is remembering conversation with doctorlady about the qualities of someone who "makes it"--someone who can rise above the circumstances and still see the goal, and there's that great silouhette of JG by the shore (which we saw at the end of Ep.30).
"Two years later" we see the chef and and his rice-wine maker wife arguing in the yard about a trip he's going to make to Jeju Island, and she asks him if he needs money. He seems surprised by this question, and she drags him into the house and gives him some of her secret stash. He says it's not enough to get to Hades (tee hee) and she says, well, you want to go or not? Then she asks him why he is carrying such a large bundle, and he says he just has some clothing and sandals and, oh, okay, a little liquor. She explodes and opens the pack, and takes out the liquor and several wooden things that might be writing accessories or household items. She says he doesn't need those, and then she gives him a package of dried persimmons for JG, who loves them but probably can't get them as a servant. Then she sends him on his way. As he leaves, he snatches an unwilling hug from her (I don't know how these two managed to have a child and by the way, you don't see one toddling around). As he walks away from their home, he pulls a large necklace of money from under his robes, chuckling that he doesn't think she knows anything about it. I tend to agree.
The next scene is JG learning the acupuncture in the cave. I think that was around 9 a.m. If anyone needs the rest of the episode because of taping problems, let me know and I'll post here later in the week.
