I'm getting more than a little irritated at how much WOCH is editing this show. Last night, I stayed home to watch. Characters remembered others saying thing that we didn't see in the first place.
To try to see what I missed, I also watched the rebroadcast this morning. Some scenes were restored, but other scenes that appeared Saturday night were missing. And the scene of the Archivist giving Jang-geum the bee sting that we saw in the teaser at the end of the previous episode was missing from both! Without it, the scene of Jang-geum with a skin reaction to the sting, and where she (apparently) gets her sense of taste back, don't really make sense.
I know WOCH has to make money by selling commercials, and I am quite gratefull for them giving us this show with subtitles, which is not the case in other cities. And, we get to see all the episodes of series. On SBC-TV (Indian programming) that I used to watch, you might only see five episodes of a forty-part series. So, I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but there is room for improvement.
Maybe they could make room in the overnight showing of MTV-2 to show the whole episode uninterupted, so we could record it. As it stands now, I think the best bet is to get that boxed set, and hope Michael gets more of those subtitle files up (Maybe he has; I haven't been able to get to the main site recently).

Soju, I sympathize with you. When I started translating this series I was somewhat upset to find out that they were cutting the scenes rather carelessly to make room for commercials. I also found that the rented VHS tapes also cut some scenes from the original, but the editing was done with the viewer in mind. So I started to cut the scenes from broadcast tape myself to match the ones found in my work-tape (rented VHS tape). This explains why you didn't see Archivist giving Jang-geum bee-stings. It is assumed in later scenes. Though I regretted it, that was much better alternative than a mindlessly cut sequence of scenes. If I have the presence of mind to do so, I'll try to let you know which scenes are edited out from each episode during my translation work. I won't be able to tell you which scenes were cut at the control room though.
Have a great day!

It depends on whether it's an official box set or not. I've seen dramas on sale before that sites claim to be official box sets but are actually homemade vcd's or dvd's. I don't know about that Dae Jang Geum box set though because I'm not sure how Dae Jang Geum is being released on dvd and I've never bought anything from that site before. I can tell you though, that I have bought official box sets of an entire drama before and the ones I own are complete. No scenes from the dramas have been edited. The episodes are exactly how they were aired in Korea.

I noticed the same things this weekend and between the two showings I was able to fill in a few details=like the bee sting thing.
I've been unable to download the transslations so there are a few things I've missed too. I'm thankful that there is this forum to discuss & find answers too. Thanks to everyone for all the help.

I have noticed some things in the past regarding possibly cutting scenes but being addicted it just falls into place as if KNOWING what is going to happen. The bee sting was filled in mentally by the quick coming attracation shots.
