That lady! She is constantly moving the horizon on people: "All I want is for Hyun-kyu to get married before I die." "I want to see my great-grandchildren before I die." "I want Eun-ji to go on arranged dates and get married before I die." Jeepers! How about, "I want my great-grandchildren to go to college and get married and have children of their own who inherit Joyland before I die."

She doesn't look all that old for a Granny, so maybe that's all possible.

It's called a "Guilt Trip", making those she wishes would do something do it. Or feel guilty for not fullflling her wishes after she's gone. Seems to work wonders, doesn't it?

Well it just proves that it is a universal ethnic granny--or mom thing. Wish I could tell you the number of Greek or Jewish or Italian or German or..well you name it... grannies or mom's I've met who act the same way! You should have seen my husband's Italian grandma. She ruled the house in much the same way and in fact one of her daughters was forced to remain unmarried to stay home and take care of mom. Aiyiyi!!! Face it though, I had tears streaming down my face yesterday as she apologized to Min Jae!!! See your mom was right--you never are too old to change

I did, too. (Tears.) And it's so much more affecting when someone does change after such a long time of holding out being mean and awful. (not that it wouldn't have been better for darling MJ and his mother if she'd come around much sooner.) She reminds me of the Joan Plowright character, the old woman, in "Enchanted April." And also Ebenezer Scrooge, who leaps like a giddy schoolboy and is filled with love for everyone after half a lifetime of being enchained by greed and suspicion.

She doesn't look all that old for a Granny, so maybe that's all possible. I remember her saying in a recent episode that she's nearing 80, but she looks more like she's in her sixties to me.
