HYE RAN'S ACTING

ok, so i know most of the board finds Park Hye-Ran's acting to be weak at best...but i say eps 154 last nite and was quite impressed...(BTW VERY disappointed i missed the weeding eps!!! have been feeling lousy )
anyway, as Hye Ran and Hyun Kyu frolic on the ocean or wherever they were, when they had that picnic and were eating, I thought she did a fabulous job of conveying total contentment mingled with an ominous air of "this can't possibly last, I should hang on to this with an open palm" all with her face. I love how the conversations (or at least translated conversations) are so different from ours...they seem to be a lot less winded (maybe than just myself )
anyway, I was really impressed, I could feel her sentiments (and I am oftentimes let down by omr acting)
juat thought i'd maintain my status as a HR-lover!!!

Her acting is so wooden. And she makes the weirdest expressions...

I don't know I guess I'm just not convinced by her AT ALL. Or she might be an okay rookie, but she's surrounded by such great talent that she pales by comparison.

I do not think she is a good actress at all. I think that she has very little in the way of inner resources and acts like a doll. She can basically only do "sad" and "playful." She is usually adequate as a placeholder in a scene, but she brings nothing extra to her, um, interpretation (I'm being generous in saying that she has one) of the role of Hye-ran.

I don't mean to be rude; I'm just adding my opinion, for what it's worth.

Totally hear where you are coming from Lucy, I think I am drawn to this character b/c MY nature is really kinda wild and almost lacking grace I talk a lot, giggle a lot, i don't just cry, i sob....i kind of epitomize drama queen....so I am always drawn to the "wooden" types and find them so graceful, kinda like porcelain dolls. I have learned to equate quiet, docile submission with femininity ( all the Gloria Steinems can stop recoiling now!!!!!) so for ME, to portray a "hye-ran type" would be extremely difficult (not that i know squat about acting ) but she sure convinces me

Oooohhhh, I get what you're saying, LALA. I can see why a more exuberant type like yourself would admire a very restrained (which we interpret as wooden) type of character. The grass is always greener.

I really don't think HR is a good actress. Thoughout this drama, she had two expressions------crying and moping . I sorry that's just how I see her.

Even when she smiles it looks like she's trying too hard. She has to draw on her inner talents and she's not doing a good job about it.

Sorry I have to agree that Hye Ran is not an actress with a wide range of ability To wit--ususally the weddings in these dramas are glorious and the brides are amazing in appearance and joy.

HR looked as if she had just eaten a jar of pickles or was quite gassy ( I know she was supposed to be sad, but geeez--she just got the man of her dreams!!!--get over it already!)

Plus, what was it with the styling of her hair covering her ears like that?--Princess Leia redux?

hye ran is an incredible actress. she says more with her eyes and smile or frown than any amount of words can.i esp love her devilsh sheepish oh i did a bad thing look.her beauty is incredible. she is a natural actress, she pulls me in everytime ;D
