I'd heard wisps of this on other boards (and even a couple here), but have tried really hard not to find out more. But now. . . Kang Min-jae, and Kang, Peter. It's gotta be, right? Everyone's been wondering, "What about Sun-young's ex? You know, Min-jae's Dad?" From MJ's reaction from that call he got at the end of tonight's ep, plus the setup for it, makes me think "Yeah, it's GOTTA be!" I am so glad I don't know any more. Heck, I don't even know this for sure. . . but it's such a great twist! This is going to be fun. If it IS so, it would be an interesting use of the small number of surnames in Korea as a plot device. No one seemed to have any suspicion until that phone call.

The daily dramas do have a tendency to throw us red herrings. The way they've built this up, though, makes me sure that Peter is family. But then, my track record on predicting plot twists is on the poor side of meager

I'm going out on a limb now to say, "Yes, Peter (whatever his Korean first name is) Kang is Min-jae's father!" I say that judging only by the animosity Min-jae displayed at the beginning of the phone call; what other relative but an abandoning father deserves that? OK, it could be someone else, but I really think it's his father.
And nice trick, by the way, his not using his Western name while in Seoul (does Peter Kang live in some foreign country? I don't remember their mentioning it either way). So that's why all the king's horses couldn't find "Peter Kang" in any hotel in the city.

Peter Kang walks up to Min-jae singing that oldie song..........."Daddy's Home" (I believe recorded by the Chi-Lites, a Chicago group in the 60's)
What more can you ask for? How about a blood test to prove his praternal claim? Where does Mr Oh fit in the picture, do we need a blood test from him as well? Will Soon-young tell all on Jerry Springer? Oh the questions, all to be answered watching the show.

Well wonder no more, tonight's episode made it defiinite...Peter Kang is MJ's dad and also RH's brother-in-law. This is going to be very interesting. I can't wait to see the look on RH's face when she realizes she is related to MJ thru marriage. Talk about a cool plot twist!

I'm a little confused about the Rainbow Hag as an in-law part of this. I'm in NYC, we saw #160 tonight and I thought the husband's name turned out to be James Park. We had discussed earlier on another thread that his name was James something but we weren't sure what... So is Peter Kang Joon-hyung (?) just a business associate of Mr. RH or what?

I think he's more of an aquaintence, who agreed to buy out Myung-joo's brother's shares, as her brother wanted no part of the takeover. Little did she know. .
And, it seems, little does Min-jae know. . .
As I like to say, this is gtting nice and juicy!

If I'm not mistaken, Peter is James' brother-in-law. I assume that RH only knew that he was divorced and no other details. Still I can't wait to see the look on her face when she realizes she's related to MJ by marriage.

According to spoilers, we thought Peter Kang was going to be Myung-joo's brother-in-law. As it turns out, her husband is James Park, not James Kang. So Peter and James are friends or business associates or whatever, but not brothers.
The spoilers can't be completey relied on. I recently read a totally confused thread because someone mixed up Hyun-kyu with Min-jae.
By the way, to oma-guest, nice name!
