I admit I haven't been Granny's biggest supporter but she made me cheer tonight. Yes it seems that she could have done this sooner and saved everyone heartache but at least she did come through now. I thought her speech to her son and later to HR's parents was eloquent and sincere. She also made me happy when she told RH her decision and allowed SY to be present at the time. I really think she wants HK to be happy above anything else. I thought her son had finally come around too when he made that comment to HR's dad about not letting his son suffer for his own guilt. But then why did he say he could never approve of the marriage to HK? I guess we have wait until tomorrow night to find out.

I must be really fed up with non functional. I did not watch tonight and did not miss it. I might be discriminating with my soaps! I need that.

I really think she wants HK to be happy above anything else. I thought her son had finally come around too when he made that comment to HR's dad about not letting his son suffer for his own guilt. But then why did he say he could never approve of the marriage to HK? I guess we have wait until tomorrow night to find out. Just a guess, but I have a sneaking suspicion we're being set up here w/ a twist of words. Last night, In-hwan said he could never approve Hyun-kyu marrying Hae-ran, or words to that effect. But I suspect tomorrow when the show picks up, IH will go on from there to say, "But I will no longer object. If you marry HR, you will still be my son and you and HR will be welcome in my home." Isn't this close to what Mal-bong did regarding her objections to Yu-jin marrying Min-jae? In the end, she didn't exactly give her blessing, but she retracted whatever objections she had and told them they could proceed w/ plans for a wedding. I sure hope something happens. Either they're allowed to marry and get on w/ it, or somehow they get over each other and move on. But just watching them go on and on pining for each other miserably has gotten really old. Please KoreanSoapGod, let these 2 get together tomorrow or get over each other PDQ! Btw...I notice Hyun-kyu is up to his old tricks...still grabbing HR by the arm, jerking her back and whipping her around. How romantic. But it still seems to have an effect on HR, even though she tries to pretend she doesn't like it. Jade

JadeEyes, I had the same thought when Mr Oh said what he said at the end of the episode. The phrasing was very odd to me and I'm thinking he may have given HK a loophole to allow him to marry HR without actually giving his blessing. I sure hope so because watching them both stare into space longingly makes me want to smash my TV screen. lol
As for HK's "forcefulness" I think HR needs that and maybe a kick in the butt as well. I've seen it on other dramas too. I think it shows the depth of the man's emotion when he grabs a girl's arm in public like that. Here the guy would be considered a bully and (or) wife beater but on these dramas it's usually just a decent guy who has reached his limit of tolerance. Too bad it isn't acceptable for women though. Imagine how bruised IH's arm would have been after 20 years of being grabbed by his frustrated wife.
