Does anyone ever notice how Hye-Ran's lip kinda curls inward whenever she talks? It's the upper right part of her lip. It's really weird!

That seems to happen when she cries too. And her lips quivers also. Her facial expressions are not conviencing enough for me. Need to practice more on being believeable.

She cound take lessons from the woman that plays her mom. We wouldn't even need subtitles, we could get the gist of what happened just by watching that actress's facial expressions and her eyes. No wonder she seems to be in just about every drama.

It looked like she had a stroke or something cuz one part of her mouth moves while she talks but the other part of her mouth seems paralyzed.

Hye-ran's lips look just fine to me. In fact I think they are quite nice, full, pomegranate-colored, luscious lips that are in proportion to her mango-shaped face. ;D Someone else mentioned in another thread how the actress who played her was a former Miss Korea runner-up. Not hard to see how since she's gorgeous! Yu-jin's lips on the other hand, kinda bother me. I don't know whether her string of misfortunes lately have mandated the kind of prosodic acting for the role, but she seems to pout even more and you see them quivering, almost trembling, as if gasping for air. I do think they casted the HR and YJ characters brilliantly. If the roles had been switched between these two amazing actors, I don't think it would have worked. The Hye-ran character oozes that prettiness and youthful vulnerability that fits into the storyline. The Yu-jin character, being already married to MJ and physically integrated into the Oh household, makes for an older, though not less vulnerable, comparison to HR.

Just catching up on many OMR episodes as I was on vacation But Ihave thought from the beginning that the actress who plays Hye-Ran is not of the caliber of the others on this drama. Pretty lady but rather wooden, in spite of all the tears that are flowing. (I am moved by the scenes but not just because she cries) I can't figure out if she is smiling, sad, angry or what because she always looks as if she is sneering or smells something bad. Just MHO. Liz Plus in the episode where Hyun-Kyu finds her and she slowly walks away down the dock from him it appears as if she is actually doing a very slow march - couldn;t figure that one out. Also, do we really believe Mean Grannie is changed?

Winter Ballad, I think KoreaWiz is incorrect. On the few websites I've looked at, she was not the winner but a runner up...actually second-runner up. www.pageant.com/news/archive/news2000q2.html(taken from above link) Kim Sa-rang, 22, Miss Seoul, was crowned Miss Korea on May 28, 2000. She will represent the Land of the Morning Calm in the Miss Universe Pageant. She was crowned at the Sejong Cultural Center, the site of the 1980 Miss Universe Pageant. Miss Chunbuk, Shin Jeong-seon, 20, was first runner-up and will compete at Miss World. Miss Taegu, Son-Tae-young, 20, was second runner-up and will compete at Miss International. A few days earlier, a feminist magazine staged a "Miss Anti-Korea Contest," spoofing the idea of pageants. It was open to any interested party, regardless of looks, age or even sex. I agree completely! I first saw her in a drama (can't remember the name!) a year or two ago, and I couldn't believe they had such a wooden, unexpressive person acting! Then when I saw she was the actress in OMR, I groaned. She has lived down to my expectations of her as an actress. It makes makes me wonder if my DH was right in wondering "who she knows." I mean *really*, how on earth could she have a major acting part with such poor acting skills -- without having connections?! Personally, I can see why she didn't win Miss Korea - her lips alone would have kept her from that top spot! (Okay, getting catty here! ). Truth be told, I really don't think she's that pretty anyway. (Ducking to avoid Jacques!) Melissa

Winter www.koreanwiz.orgEh WinterBallad, howzit! ;D 'kay gang, this is what a little Korean bird told me re: Korean beauty pageant titleholders. Korea sends delegates to four main international beauty pageants: Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Asia-Pacific. Sohn Tae-young, while not winning the Miss Korea national competition (she was only a runner-up), nevertheless got sent to the Miss International pageant in Tokyo, as the Korean contestant where she was first runner-up, having already won Miss Photogenic, behind who else, Miss Venezuela. ;D

Melissa, I may well be the de facto Park Hye-ran/Sohn Tae-young fan club on these here boards (I think Anmei is busy with her own website ), but far be it from me to throw virtual paper balls at you, so relax, as you were. ;D Unlike some ladies on this OMR fan board, I say to each her/his own, different strokes for different folks. Tae-young/Hye-ran may be a mighty fine lady for me, but if the other ladies disagree for whatever reason, they are equally free to express their humble opinions (what is the acronym? ho? ) as I.
