Building on the Neo-Confucian theory of the Oh family home, anyone noticed Hyun-kyu's hair has been getting progressively darker (and I ain't talkin 'bout da roots--in spite of tragedy, that boy, at least the actor who plays him, has TIME to go for regular touch-ups at the colorist! ;D). If this long-suffering melodrama really is about the Korean family/cultural values, it kinda makes sense--the first time I saw OMR, it was early-on in the series, I saw a scene of a blond boy (HK) with a kicking-and-screaming Grannie creating a scene with blondie's father (IH) (incidentally, that scene failed to draw me into the series, wasn't until I saw my favorite evil incarnate, Lady Choi from DJG as RH that I became really hooked! ;D). Therefore, it makes sense that a maturing Hyun-kyu, albeit a broken one, would gradually loose all his hi-lites and grow into more of a Min-Jae-type persona. Speaking of which, I know there is already a fanclub for Min-Jae's spiky dark hair. And the fashion--while Min-Jae's questionable taste in sportswear has already been discussed on this board, don't looking at all the pastels and minimalist-chic of the women make you hanker for the "golden" days of Dynasty, where shoulder pads and materials were over the top? Heck, we don't even get to see the Evil B*!@h in a glittery Versacesque outfit, except for her black Mercedes Benz. Now THAT....is a whole other thread! ;D

On "Who's My Love," there was a character who married into the family, who was a film director (commercial ads). He had blonde tips (he was at least 40), and they rode him unmercifully for it--it was quite hilarious. The bride's mother made their removal a condition of the marriage. "What's with that yellow hair! Isn't he too old for that? Why do you have to marry a yellow head?" Bo

Speaking of fashion, why the heck does Hye-ran have an "initial shirt" with the initial "W" on it?
I cannot figure it out.

Speaking of hairstyles, what do you guys think about the characters' hairstyles? HK does look better without the highlights. I personally think that HR's hairstyle is too plain and boring. I wish that she'd get a new hairdo or something.

in an episode not long ago, Hyunkyu takes Eunji to dinner. He watches Eunji eating the spicy rice cakes and then has a flashback to a time when he had taken Hye Ran to dinner. (the dinner he jokingly voiced his concern of HyeRan turning into an ogre, a la Shrek, or "Shreck," which is how it was spelled in the subtitles)
I couldnt help but notice how much his hair has changed since then. In the flashback, Hyunkyu's hair is much longer and softer (not so many gelled up spikes.)
Hyeran's hair was the same old same old, before and after the flahsback..

It's meant to be on the mousey side, highlighting her disadvantaged soco-economic background, but at the same time it's still long and luxurious...all the more to make HK want to run his fingers thru them!! ;D Hopefully they'll send her to the beauty shop before any "happy" events.

We've talked at some length about the OMR women characters and their individual sense of fashion, particularly about Yu-kyung, Mal-bong, and EA aka Myung-joo. What about Soon-young? Anyone noticed, since the diagnosis of her medical condition, she has shown a bit more color and flair in dressing, especially when she goes out of the house (which frankly should be a reason to CELEBRATE in her case ;D). I seem to recall a few chic dress-suits. There was a yellow ensemble with matching scarf, and also a silver/metallic one when she went to visit Kwi-boon following Hye-ran's return. She looks really attractive and dignified, as opposed to the indentured doormat subject to Grannie's moods and whims at home. I guess it's true what they say--fashion and accessories do play a significant role in a person's life as an instant picker upper (that or a luscious bowl of tiramisu! ;D)

I've been noticing that the suit/skirt two piece outfits that Soon-young, Grannie, and Myungjoo wear all look very similar. Looks like the ones Chanel used to make, very Jackie Kennedy-esque, in my opinion.
