While watching the show one day, I made some comment to my husband about Ki-soo's "preference" and he hold me IRL he's a married man (...opposite, *not* same, sex). It surprised me because he "plays the part" well. Melissa Married?...Sure...to the INVISIBLE WOMAN!! lol ;D How do you say...d-e-n-i-a-l in Korean? ;D

Inputting additional data into computer, checking screen for updated result: Kim Ki-Soo gay certification process: 99% completed! ;D How do you say Gay Pride in Korean?

I'm pretty sure there's a statue of "David" (a gay icon) in the restaurant as well. My eyes will be searching in future scenes to verify. ;D

My eyes will be searching in future scenes to verify. ;D And they JUST refurbished the original David statue in Florence! There was a wee-bit controversy since the original subcontractor was caught polishing the, er, "erogenous" areas of the statue during public viewing hours! ;D ;D

All that rubbing, wouldn't that be a blast from the past when it goes off. ;D

Oh my! All that rubbing, wouldn't that be a blast from the past when it goes off. ;D And get this: the museum's forensic examiners determined that the statue's skinny legs COULD NOT support the hefty upper body into the indefinite future. In other words, we can expect THAT statue of David to collapse sometime...unless we can get Bob Greene to make him work on his calves! ;D ;D

Defo not the actor who portrays Kim Ki-Soo, this one's about a decade younger and permanently bald!

Yeah...I know. I saw a thread on the yahoo board about "Kim Ki Soo" and this article was referenced. (Which is obviously NOT the adorabale OMR character!) I've not seen anything on Korean news or entertainment programs about the OMR guy coming out. That being said, it doesn't mean it's not true, but I haven't seen anything proving it to the contrary. If he had, it seems it would have been televised or something, you know? Again, not that it makes a bit of difference because I still like the actor and I think he does a great job -whatever his preference IRL! :-) Melissa

Yeah, 'twasn't I who said it was the actor. I was just pointing the first poster to the other thread that mentioned it. I have no knowledge about the actor myself. If you were to ask me, I would say that I think the Ki-soo character is supposed to be gay-ish but not a practicing homosexual; he is rather effeminate in his mannerisms, so he's in line with some gay stereotypes there, but I don't think we're supposed to think he has sexual relationships with anyone. He's simply a confirmed bachelor, a good friend, and a sweet man who wants a family but has no use for a wife. And, regarding the actor who plays him, there has to be a lot of Ki-soo in him, to say the very least.

And, regarding the actor who plays him, there has to be a lot of Ki-soo in him, to say the very least. I agree with this assessment of the character, Lucy. In fact, even though Tae-ho teases him about being "that way," he also said to Keum-ja and Tae-il (at the cafe) that he doesn't know why Ki-soo doesn't get married, because he has so much to offer. I disagree with your last assumption. A good actor takes on the nuances and attitudes of his or her character. If we were to judge Kyun Mi Ri (Rainbow Aunt) from this show, we'd have to say she's a high-strung, vindictive, delusional infant, on her character from Jang-geum (Lady Choi), a deeply disturbed, greedy, power-hungry fiend, on Tender Hearts (Donguk's aunt), a confused, lonely "little girl," on Who's My Love (younger aunt), a self-contained, shy, determined woman, and on "To Be With You" a shrewish, low-class heart-of-gold type. These characters are not interchangeable. Her performances differ widely. I have not seen Song Ki Yoon in any other dramas; he may or may not be as good an actor as Kyun Mi Ri, but I would not like to make any assumptions on that point. Bo

I know, Bo. I happen to think that the nuances of Ki-soo's character are too subtle to be put on. Opinion, dontcha know.

What's up with EA aka RH's hair these days? First, she was growing out her bangs, nowadays she's sporting a side-part. Has she gone retro, as in the 70s ;D, or is she trying to soften up her look? Others on this board have noted an ever-so-slight personality shift in her, could the hairstyle modifications be an omen of things to come? I always thought her old, regular look contributed to the icy veneer of the Aunty Evil that we all love to hate.
