I suspect her gut reaction was, "Who will I push around if she's gone?"

Personally, I think she had been warming up to Soon-young for awhile now...it seemed pretty obvious when she chastised In-Hwan and defended Soon-young during that memorable scene a few episodes back, and she was careful to say some positive things about Soon-young to Myung-joo, and they both visited Keum-ja's restaurant together the other day.....the old Kwei-boon would have gone herself or with Yu-ri......
Grandma was just stunned that Soon-young would suddenly leave without adequate notice right in the middle of a family crisis.....

I was so taken aback by Sun-young not telling her family that she was going to the hospital. . .Until I remembered I did the exact same thing a few years ago. I didn't want them to get all worried, but not knowing where I was worried them even more. I don't just watch dramas, I live them. . . Just don't do this yourself. Bothe Sun-young and I did the wrong thing.

I think all us moms have that tendency, Soju. We gladly take on the worries of the whole family ourselves but hesitate to add a burden to our loved ones when we are the ones in trouble. I'm glad things worked out for you and I agree, that is not the best thing to do.
As for SY and Granny, I was cheering when YJ told Granny the truth about SY's "vacation". Did you see the previews where she is actually holding SY's hand, comforting her? I also think Granny is going to be the one to tell her selfish son how close he might be to losing SY. And the fact that both of SY's sons rushed to her side as soon as they found out shows the depth of their love for their mom. I think MJ wanted to hug her but he's so used to holding back emotions that he couldn't. HK was true to form though. hugging her without a moments hesitation. No matter how abandoned SY might be feeling (by her husband), she has to be very comforted by her sons reaction to her illness.

Nothing like a tyrant being thrown out of the loop. ;D And now, for something COMPLETELY different... Jacques, you stinker! Are you a girl, masquerading under a boy name? I read a thread on AOW forum and it sure sounded like they were saying you were their "sworn sister"--come on, fess up. Bo

I've had my own suspicions about this. I also wonder if Jacques is really coming in from out of town. Come on now, sister/brother! Give it to us straight. (You can still head the Hye-ran fan club no matter what!)

I starting to wonder if Granny is bi-polar, the mood swings seem to point in that direction.

Bo Somebody, a pseudo-AOW character lol ;D, wants me to be their sworn sister...who am I to say no (same goes for wishing me Happy Mother's Day ;D). As I've said on these boards (and u can "" me on that) different strokes for different folks... ;D Far be it from me to shake a finger at anyone else...and an AOW "drama" character who doesn't even bother 2 sign up at that! ;D Believe me, I would have no problems in signing in as "Jacqueline," except I'm not (happens to be the name of my favorite 70s actress of French extraction, btw, Ms. Bisset 2 b nasty--2nd Janet reference on these here boards posted by urs truly ;D). BTW, I noticed how "TheBo" and "Luceeeee" carry on. Now THAT's something for the OMR-Chicago spin-off script...practically writing itself, I'd say. ;D Now...about the "party." Can we dispense with the polling, Boba or not Boba talk, and actually ORGANIZE something?! ;D Looks like people from the Windy City don't even know WHERE 2 get 2gether, much less invite an out-of-towner!! Keep me posted lol ;D

(You can still head the Hye-ran fan club no matter what!) (Uses my best Ricky Ricardo voice, except I have a peninsular accent a la Antonio) Lutheeeee! Luthee? Luthee, where r u? ;D Thanx for the "honorary sistah" compliment, I'm gonna reference that next time a feminist interviews me lol! Sadly, as in most dramas, real or fictional, I am but a TYPICAL MALE, but one who is secure enough 2 admit that we, men (especially older ones, a la Oh In-Hwan ;D) are b@$!@#8s that deserve to crawl under a rock. ;D About the "party"...do your bit to ACTUALLY organize one, and hope it's not too late 4 mi 2 request vacation! ;D

Allooooo, Jacques! Bonjour, etc. I accept your protestations of maleness and I will question the validity of your online persona no longer. Now, about those smileys running rampant through your posts . . . . Hey, what's this about Bo and me? I didn't think there was anything remarkable going on between us. What do you see? I will be happy to play it up if it brings amusement to you. Back to granny: I didn't really like the fact that she had a near-collapse when she heard about Soon-young. If she has a stroke or something and steals the sympathy and attention away from our little Cinderella, SY, I will be angry. She should keep herself in good health so she can cheerfully shoulder her share of the household work and help out Yu-jin, too. Whoever said here the other day that Kwi-boon is the laziest Korean grandma they've ever seen, boy are you right. I haven't seen many others, but they've GOT to be more active than this lady, who, by the way, seems to have switched from an embroidery addiction to a fixation on reading the daily paper as she waits for people to bring her things and invite her to the table for meals. Truly, the expression "get a life!" applies here.

I can't wait for Soon-young to snap out of it and realize her position as the REAL Lady of the House, at which point she should scream at Gramps: "OUT!! Get OUT of MY HOUSE!!" (I'm having my Korean colleague translate the expression as we speak ;D) On the flip side... ATTENZIONE! Open casting call for the cast of OMR-The Chicago Board Drama (unofficial OMR spin-off ). Accepting auditions for all roles, except for "TheBo" and "Lucy." lol!! ;D

Yes! The queen bee waiting in her room for the worker bees to come and feed her and attend to all her needs. But! Unlike a really queen bee she's outlived her usefullness, no longer laynig eggs to produce more worker bees. Time for the hive to throw her out.
