Tonight's ep. (Chicago Wednesday, May 19) started early, and I missed the best part -- Soon-young telling Granny she's going on a trip. What did Granny say? I tuned in when Mal-bong and SY were walking out the door. Please, someone help me! I'll have to wait days for the re-run in the am. Thanks in advance!

Granny was upset, but Soon-young and (especially) Mal-bong cajoled her, until she said "Ok, fine! Do whatever you want!"

The old biddy went nuts and ranted about Soon-young showing her true colors and not really thinking of the family, only of herself. Blah, blah, blah.
I loved the scene when she was hungry and ranted about no one home to cook for her and were they all trying to starve her to death, ;D. God only knows what this dingbat did when she was married and raising her own family, didn't she learn to cook in her 80 years of life? And then when her granddaughter-in-law came home and offered to cook her dinner, she went off on her and refused . Poor baby went to bed hungry. Isn't there an Asian culture that use to throw the elderly off cliffs when they became a burden to the framily? Maybe someone should look into giving granny the push already.

The OMR Grannie is a prime contender for Worst Asian Grannie award! Far from being the wise great conciliator of the family, she represents the worst of the patriarchy that makes mothers and grandmothers pick and choose one son/grandson over another. The old are to be venerated for their contribution to family/society but when they have learnt nothing from life and continue to be a b*@#h to society, I say TAKE THEM 2 THE GALLOWS!! (and in these modern times, it usually means The Shady Pines retirement home where they can pick on someone their own age 4 a change! ;D)

Thank you guys! I thought for sure that OMR would start at 6:00 sharp, with that sitcom on before it. I guess I still haven't learned, after all my years of watching dramas on KBC, that nothing's written in stone!
