Q: How do you get ten million Koreans to look at you?
A: Holler out, "Yah! Mistoh Kim!" ("Hey! Mr. Kim!")

I am in the Philly area and a while back they played an old OMR from the beginnng of the series by mistake. But in that episode, Tae-il says to Ji-hong that he is Suh Ji-hong (his mother's name was Suh) but when they find his father, he can be Kim Ji-hong.
Suh is also Dong-pyo and co.'s family. And in the very beginning, Suh Yu-jin had a picture of Ji-hong and Tae-il, remember? And I think that when Yu-jin went on a business trip in the very beginning, she went to China and visited relatives. Hmmm!

Whoa! Maria has just thrown a monkey wrench into our calculations! OK, so it's possible now that somehow Ji-hong could be related to Soon-young's family, or RH's henchman, or Dong-pyo's family, not just because of those all-too-common last names but also because this drama is all about the multiple layers of connection between these three particular families.

...in the very beginning, Suh Yu-jin had a picture of Ji-hong and Tae-il, remember? And I think that when Yu-jin went on a business trip in the very beginning, she went to China and visited relatives. Yes, that is an interesting sequence of facts. However, Yu-jin also said she had a "Korean-Chinese" guide, and I don't think she meant Ji-hong (LOL). I have always thought she meant Tae-il. If she was taking pics of Tae-il with Ji-hong (which she was), why doesn't she know about Ji-hong? Why doesn't Yu-kyung say, "Hey, that's my cousin, Ji-hong! Hey, everyone's looking for him!" Then again, why doesn't Yu-jin recognize Tae-il as her guide from China? She met him at that family dinner. Bo

Ya know, I've been wondering that myself. YJ, who is very astute and intelligent for the most part, took that picture of HR's dad and little JH on that business trip. Why didn't she at least recognize him or vice versa when they finally met face to face at that dinner? I kind of doubt that JH will end up related to anyone else on the show although my favorite theory is that he ends up being somehow connected to RH, and the knowledge that she is now related to the familyof the man that killed her sister causes her to kill herself in some bloody and painful way. Hey it doesn't hurt to dream, right? lol

Hi, I love this part of the story! So much speculation!
I actually think that there was a "hey, don't I know you from somewhere" look on both Yu-Jin and Tae-il's faces when they met at that dinner, but it was over so soon, it was hard to tell.
Also, I know I'm behind most of you, being in Philly, but as far as I know, Yu-Jin is the only one who still has not met Ji-hong. They were both at that dinner, but MJ and YJ were late, and the children (Ji-hong and Mi-Joo) were already sent into another room by the time they got there.
One more thing, I don't remember this, but my mother said that she remembers that Ji-hong's mother was Korean, not Chinese, and that she had originally gone to China to work as a translator.
The saga continues...

Sorry for the double post. I don't know how I did that.
MARIA - I deleted your second post. You could do that (for your own posts), too, if you signed on as a member of the board! Come on, you know you want to!

Now that IS another layer to the onion! I still think Yu-jin should have recognized Tae-il, though. And even if YJ hasn't seen Ji-hong, Yu-kyung certainly has. She should recognize her own relative, if he is one. Bo

How about this for a twist in the story line? We know EA married and went to China with her first husband. After his death, with grief she went on a drinking bing (she does know how to throw those drinks back) had an affair resulting in Ji-hong, who she gave up at birth, not wanting any clues of her folly. Years later, guess who's coming to dinner? Poetic justice! ;D

Hey Bo! Sorry to be off topic. I see you encouraged guest Maria to hop on board & become a member. I've personally been trying to for weeks & it just never goes through. Any advice? Thanks

Hey Bo! Sorry to be off topic. I see you encouraged guest Maria to hop on board & become a member. I've personally been trying to for weeks & it just never goes through. Any advice? Thanks I don't know why, oma. Are you also having trouble with "too many connections" when you try to answer a post? The board seems to slow to a crawl when the network is too full--have you tried at odd times, like late at night or very early in the morning? Also, you may be trying to use a name that some other person already used--are you getting any system messages when you try? What happens? I may not personally be able to figure it out, but I'm sure if you post the details, someone out there will. Bo
