Random thoughts about soap operas in any language Every home has a TV, but no one ever wathces TV unless they turn it on at the exact moment there is a special news report about something in the story line. Soap opera packing & closets- Everyone has great & extensive wardrobes, but when they open the closet there are like 5 things hanging there. They can also pack a whole closet into 1 med size suitcase that they can actually lift & carry.(HR as she was leaving AGAIN) Most characters have every other characters' phone number memorized when most of us can't even remember our own.(I always watch & count to see if they push 7 buttons, many dont!) Why does everyone sleep in their clothes-with the lights on? Why is it we hardly ever see charaters in the same outfit twice-even to poorer ones (OK, I'm dating myself now, but the exception to this rule would have to be Opal from all my children and her tur-KWAZ pants) Ah, yes, the universal soap opera truths. Can you tell I've had some time on my hands! ;D

Granted, OMR may not have had a Dynasty-size budget, but to make the characters wear the same outfit TWICE would be a cardinal sin guaranteed to lose viewership points ;D.

Actually, I've noticed that no one ever watches TV, but it also seems like most homes don't have them in their public rooms, only in the bedrooms.
About sleeping in their clothes: YES! But also, why would those ladies put poor Hyun-gyu to bed in his SUIT, complete with jacket? That's ridiculous; he can't be comfortable like that!

Well, I think I've seen Yu-jin in that hot pink jacket about three or four times now. Not to mention poor Keumja who always seems to be wearing the same sweater, shirt and skirt combination.
I think the two characters I haven't seen wearing the same thing twice are Rainbow Hussy and Soon-ok. By the way even though we always rave about Yu-jin, I think these two ladies are pretty good dressers too.

You betcha Rainbow Hussy aka Aunty Evil aka Her Royal Heinie aka Rainbow Hag Myung-Joo wouldn't be caught dead in the same Korean couture outfit twice, being Ms. "I-ride-in-a-chauffeur-driven-black-Mercedes." As for Keum-ja, I wondered if Salvation Army got a Korean franchise?

As for Keum-ja, I wondered if Salvation Army got a Korean franchise? LOL! Too funny. Hey, have you all noticed how much better dressed Tae-il is than Keumja. I just thought about it right now. One more reason Tae-il is shameless. He should be running around in a potato sack wearing boxes on his feet!

Y'all forgot the most glaring thing--perfect make-up in bed. I love when the man wakes in the middle of the night and looks over to where his wife is lying with her perfectly coiffed hair and shiny, shiny lipstick and fine eyeliner, not a smear in sight. Also, when people rise from the bed, not a wrinkle on their satiny nightclothes. (By the way, did anyone else get a giggle out of the "pink" family--Mi-joo, Yu-kyung and Hye-sung--the night Mal-bong found the lipstick on Suh's shirt? They all had on bright pink pjs.)
Second, I disagree about people not watching TV. That's true in American soaps, but the Korean characters frequently sit and watch TV, I noticed it right away--at the Suh house and also at Min-joo's house on Yellow Hankie. Ki-soo always had the TV on, remember, he was following an historical drama (but not so much now--maybe it's over!).

They certainly seem to like the color pink and yes Bo, it does cause me to giggle. As for the sleeping in regular clothes, it seems to me that they all have "outside" clothes and "home" clothes and with the obvious exception of HK and his suit, any home clothing is ok to sleep in. I think that him wearing that same suit for all the days he was missing was a nice touch though. It really brought home his desperation and focus on finding HR. From the looks of it he didn't eat, sleep, or shower that whole time. I do think that his family could have changed him into something else when he finally came home. Imagine how bad he must have smelled! lol

But what do I know from a Birkin bag? Bo

Yeah, I think that suit is awful. It looks like it's made of plastic. I wonder if he shops for himself or if Soon-young does it for him. I keep meaning to mention how I think her clothes are awful. How many variations on a Peter Pan collared sweater can there be? She's got 'em all, I bet.

hey-sung and his wife were in pj that match. also I have seen hye-run and her mom in pj. but never saw others. I think it was funny hye-kung goes to bad in suit and min-jae in his clothes. maybe that is what they were to bed in korea

Yes, I got a charge out of that. Though HS and YK started out seemingly mismatched, especially since Yu-kyung was such a tough boss, they've become quite the Care Bears family. The matching adorableness is quite a spectacle. Although, speaking as a grown adult woman, I must speculate that there will never be another child born to that family; who would let Tickle-Me Hye-sung come near her in that outfit?

Well, then, I guess Hye-sung is some kind of hyper-potent alpha male in teddy-bear-jammy disguise. But still, remember that the Korean Casanova was half-naked when he had his way with Yu-kyung the first time; now that she sees him in his cuddly fleecy duds every night, I bet it's going to be nothing but sisterly affection all the way.
