Is Tae-il shameless? I’ve been pondering over this question for a couple of days now, and I’m kind of leaning toward “yes.”
First, he kept saying “what did I do to deserve being treated this way!” when he abandoned his family and left his poor wife with a huge debt. Then she begs him to leave, that she will even raise his illegitimate child for him, and the creep takes her up on that offer! When he meets w/his in-laws for the first time, its Keum-ja who apologizes for all their “shortcomings.” Wouldn’t it have been Tae-il’s place to apologize? It seems like his wife is always picking up his mess.
Okay, okay the whole running over HK’s mom was an accident, but what wasn’t an accident is the fact that he left that injured woman there to die. Yes he was scared, but not more than the lady whom he had run over. I think maybe the Oh’s would not be so opposed to HK and HR’s marriage if he at least did something to try and save her. I just can’t have respect for him.
I see a huge difference in attitudes in the way he acts and in the way Goen from WML act. She was constantly always apologizing and was more than willing to “pay” for her mistakes as gratitude for the family accepting her (or at least that’s the way it seemed to me.)

Is Tae-il shameless? Yes! He's gotton cozy with his family pretty quickly, even though he only came back to them after his Chinese girlfriend died. I agree, he could use some Goeun-brand humility right now!

I've always said he is not only shameless but very selfish. I don't think they should have kept the accident from their grown children but things would have been easier for everyone if he had never come back in the first place. He has never thought about how his actions affected his family. He's lucky they still love him and took him back.

I was particularly struck by how he kept trying to see In-huan when the guy obviously isn't ready for it, and after Hyun-kyu begged him not to. Doesn't HK deserve his complete cooperation? I still think Tae-il and his brother are the stupidest men in Korea. Not only didn't he go back to see the woman he hit, he let his wife go to the scene of the crime to find out what happened. She's had to live with all those images all these years. And I know YK and HS are trying to draw their family together, but let's have a wedding for HS's parents? Is she insane? Doesn't Keum-ja get any say in this? Sheesh.

I mean come on now...lets keep this a secret from the kids (hurt them even more) ...had they known they would have understanded him more...hated him less. I'm glad his family has taken him back but still the things he does sometimes....makes you wonder

I don't think Tae-il understands the meaning of shameless. If he did, he wouldn't have returned to Korea for any reason and just let his family think him dead. After his return, he acted as if he didn't have to apologize for his shortcomings. How so unfair to his family and most especially his wife. She is still cleaning up after him. I agree that this secret should have been shared among his children, since it affected his children the most.
