A cache of documents dating from the Chosun dynasty of King Jung-jong has surfaced in an archeological dig of the old palace kitchens. Among recipes and something called "The Book of the Head Kitchen Ladies" was found a declaration relating the King's orders that people stop spreading rumors about a certain Lady Choi, whom he declared innocent of necromancy. Also found was an apparently hastily written letter from one Lady Young-ro to a "Keum-young" stating that unless she was released from imprisonment, she would "Blow that whole hurricane story wide open," and relating an eyewitness account of this Lady Choi "Cackling about the Oh family in that witchy way she had...what was she up to?" Finally, the daily Chosunilbo has reported that people visiting the Royal Museum in Seoul are talking about the strong resemblance between a certain sumi-e portrait dating from approximately 1518, which now is believed to be this Lady Choi, and well-known Rainbow International president, Lee Myung-joo. Ms Lee was unavailable for comment, but her right-hand man, a certain Mr Kim, stated that Ms Lee is not related in any way to an ancient witch, and "who could prove it anyway."

KNS has learned that the ancient text referred to in its report of 20 April 2004 has been released to the public. A modern translation is available at: deiner.proboards18.com/index.cgi?board=daejanggeum&action=display&thread=1082514526Rainbow International president Lee Myung-joo continues to be unavailable for comment, but she has been seen in several local nightclubs throwing her drinks on executives from Joyland, the successful theme park owned by her late sister's husband, Oh In-huan. Mr In-huan, when asked about the contents of the "Choi Interdict" and the resemblance of Ms Lee to Lady Choi, attempted to throttle this reporter. Charges have not been filed.

KNS apologizes to Mr Oh In-huan, president of Joyland, for its inadvertant misprint of his name as "Mr In-huan." KNS can only note that its reporter, a transplanted American, is still slightly unfamiliar with Korean usage, and occasionally is carried away with the excitement of the moment. KNS assures Mr Oh it had nothing to do with his alleged attack upon our reporter.

Oh my goodness! Is it possible that a right-hand man, a certain assistant," Mr Kim" may also have some hidden ;)involvement with a young orphan named Ji-Hong that relates to Rainbow International (remember that ancient trip to China)? The soup ,er..plot thickens!

Is it possible that a right-hand man, a certain assistant," Mr Kim" may also have some hidden involvement with a young orphan named Ji-Hong that relates to Rainbow International (remember that ancient trip to China)? HAH! See, I'm not the only one who thought of that! No one seems to agree with me, though, lizlib--I think the kid's family name is Kim, but everyone else thinks it's Lee. We'll just stand strong on our suppositions. Solidarnosc and all that. Bo

I think the kid's family name is Kim, but everyone else thinks it's Lee Bo, I had the kid pegged as a Lee earlier, but you said Kim, so I checked, and sure enough, you are right. I think it's a hoot that Mi-joo has to use honorifics to him.

Bo, I had the kid pegged as a Lee earlier, but you said Kim, so I checked, and sure enough, you are right. I think it's a hoot that Mi-joo has to use honorifics to him. And I remembered last night why I thought he was a Kim. Because when Tae-il told Tae-ho that he was looking for "a man" (the scene on the street when TI was first in Seoul), he mentioned the guy's name, and I remember thinking at first he said Kim Jong-il. (And wouldn't THAT be a shocker!) I guess Mi-joo is not exempt from the family honorific rules. Maybe she's reconsidering living with papa... Bo

Sorry, Bo, but I passed on this thread because I simply didn't understand it! No offense. p.s. And you have to be both a JG and an OMR watcher to get this, so that's probably why you didn't get as many responses as you'd hoped.

Sorry, Bo. I just saw my first episode of Jang Geum this morning, so NOW I get it! I'll be more fun from now on, I promise. Very clever, too! You scared the heck out of me, it sounded so offical! Too little, too late, I know.
