Does anyone know the Korean term that Hye-sung uses for his beloved "Boss"? It sounds like "su-san-mye" or something. For a while I though he might be calling her by her last name and some title (since her last name is Suh), but then I wasn't sure anymore.
Thanks, L

I don't know what the word is, but I was thinking...isn't it about time Hye-sung stops calling Yu-kung "boss" and starts calling her by her first name, or at least honey or sweetheart?
If he doesn't, it will set a pattern for the whole marriage that I don't think he's going to like.

If he wants to make points with the older generation, he shouldn't call her by her first name. He should call her "Mi-joo's Mother".
But he doesn't seem the type to be that formal. I don't know quite how you spell it in English, but, yeah, he should call her "Yu-kyung-shae", since it always seem that lovers tack on that 'shae' syllable to each other's names.

I think he's calling her by her last name plus her title. I've noticed that in families, even, people will refer to an executive by his or her title. For instance, many times someone will ask (about the father of the family) "Where's the President?" instead of "Where's your father?" It seems tied in with acknowledging the senior position of someone with whom you work or who is your senior in the family, anyway. I think it's kind of cute. He's almost made it his pet name for her.

The Korean word for 'boss' or 'president (of a company)' is 'sajang'. Could be this with 'mye' as a grammatical ending.

That's the way I think of it. I believe that they have talked about the issue of what to call each other--or at least he, Yu-jin, and Yu-kyung have in various combinations with each other--and have said they will address each other formally (in business terms) at the office and with family honorifics/personal names as called for at home. Still, if Hye-sung calls her "Boss" at home, I think she will interpret it as cute, not submissive. :-)
