OMR is quickly becoming my favorite drama that is airing at this time. I especially think that the actor playing Min-jae is great. Did you guys see his hand when his dad told him that he had consented to HK marrying Hye-ran? Poor MJ, I wish I could run to Seoul and comfort him. Absolutely everyone is hurting him, either intentionally or unintentionally. I did feel some comfort, though, when he told Hye-ran off, “I will hate and despise you”. [insert Hye-ran’s upward slanting mouth *expression* here]. Also, I loved the part when he tells HK, “you tear out my heart and then you say it’s your arm. You're shameless.” Totally unmasking just how stupid and selfish HK is being, he goes after the girl MJ is in love with (which if he really thought MJ as his real brother, he wouldn’t have done in the first place) and then he wants him to be okay with it? The previews for tonight’s episode look great. I wonder what it is Yu-jin was saying as she was unbuttoning her blouse (how risqué!). I know they didn’t show the full scene w/Hyun-ku and Min-jae so I’m watching this morning re-broadcast later tonight to catch the full episode.

Tonight's episode will be an important one, because (finally!!!!) the writers seem to start taking the Min-jae/Yu-jin relationship seriously. And, that taking-off-the-blouse thing in the preview is a real tease, isn't it?

Do the actors in Korean dramas seem like better actors than those in American dramas? They do to me.

I quit watching the American soaps (after 25 years!) because the K-dramas (and the actors/actresses) are SO much better....

Indeed, yesterday's episode was really good, and i agree with you galacctichick, this drama is quickly becoming my favorite. Especially with the shirt unbuttoning. I felt so eompathetic towards yu-gin. Everyone does go on about Min-jae's pain, even i did...but there are also other people that feel his pain. I LOVE hyun-kyu. he is just so great. Min-jae would make me feel really sad and hopeless. So, i think that the drama from yesterday's episode is getting us hooked for MORE!

Do the actors in Korean dramas seem like better actors than those in American dramas? They do to me. I've caught a couple of episodes (usually when I am sick and have to stay home) and it is not necessarily that they are bad actors, it's just that their situations and lives are so far from reality. Have you noticed how you never see anyone in American soap operas working? And even the *poor* (financially) characters have these wonderful looking houses and clothes and jewelry. And those series go on and on and on and on. The American soap that I watch once in a blue moon is General Hospital, I am pretty sure they've changed the character Lucky about 3 times now.

It isn't just that American soaps have unrealistic situations. The actor is forced to change the whole personality of the character from time to time, depending on who leaves the show or what the writers want to do next. So you have, for instance, a woman who's spent 10 years trying to "be with" a certain man, succeeds after much travail, they are blissfully happy for awhile, he dies because the actor wants to pursue other projects, and one month later, the mourning widow is in a love affair with her NEW one true love (who might even be the person who caused the death of her previous one true love) with whom she wants to spend forever! When the actors work on Korean soaps, they can build a character and have that character be true to itself for the entire run of the series. This consistency makes a difference to how you perceive that person and allows the actor to truly grow in the part.

True, about the situations in American soaps being unrealistic, and also that they are so never-ending that the actors are sure to leave sometime, rendering the need for another actor for the same part. Anyone watch Passions or Days of Our Lives? How long have they been on air?
I always dread the time when it comes for a Korean soap that I have enjoyed to end, but maybe it's a good thing that they have a scheduled ending time. They may be short, but they don't dissapoint the viewers.
