...is up on Kocowa now, with subs. As usual, watch it with ads for 24 hours and then it goes behind their paywall.

After four episodes of forced drama in this drama, I am happy to say we’re back on track.
The moment we focus back on Goryeo-Liao tensions, quality spiked right up.

Well the good news is we’re starting to get back to what the series was supposed to be about. And any time Xiao Paiya shows up it makes for better content. Still, a lot of this episode was boring, and now suddenly this has turned into The Kim Eunbu Show. The opening, even for the fiction it was disappointing. Very staged and phony and it went on too long. And we all know she’s not going to kill him, so stop it. And now all of a sudden Hyeonjong and Gamchan are best buds again like nothing happened? Ugh. First fist-clench, 11:42! And now the empress is admitting to her husband that she knew about the meeting and the attacks against the commissioners? And then later on she’s continuing to try to manipulate the court...I’ll say this again, why isn’t Hyeonjong restricting her from any contact with government officials? It’s ridiculous how much they’re writing the empress into all of this. And she’s becoming uninteresting and tiresome. Hyeonjong: “Then have you decided to stop fighting against me entirely? Or are you just taking a step back and biding your time?” (click for full size) Dude...don’t ever play poker. Ever. (click for full size) My favorite moment of the episode. Enough of your b*llsh*t already. LOL! And not another word was spoken by anyone, that was perfect. Oh looky here, The Black Assassin is at it again, messing with the generals' heads. Are they really that gullible? (click for full size) Well finally a show of spine from Yoo Jin. Maybe this is the sign of things turning away from the empress. Let's hope. I don’t suppose this writer will control his fiction fetish completely all of a sudden, but at least we can hope for better episodes going forward. This one did pick up considerably once we got back to the Khitan.

I heard Episode 1 to 6 were written by a different writer, but they replaced that writer with LBTK writer starting Episode 7.
Also, all the major battle scenes were written by the co-director Kim Hansol, who was the director of Imjin War 1592.
Examples of major battle scenes - Yang Gyu's Heunghwajin battle, Yang Gyu's final battle(basically all battle scenes with CGI)

That Kim Eunbu was sent to the Khitan homeland as a envoy is historical fact.

That Kim Eunbu was sent to the Khitan homeland as a envoy is historical fact. That's fine but adding all of the fiction on top of it has made it too much about him.
