Remember, this one is marked 31 in the YouTube list.
“I heard that the prince has learned Taoist magic and can call spirits to the palace.” The king is taking this seriously? This is suggesting that part of what happens to Sado is the result of the king losing his judgment at least to some extent. Hmmm. He did seem to be laboring more and more as the episode went on, like he was mentally aging almost right in front of us. I just wonder if that’s fair to him and true to history. Not doubting it, it’s very possible given his age.
“I’m going to act crazy from now on.” So it’s all going to be an act? Okay I was prepared to forgive this series for some of its problems but this one is very serious. We’ll talk about this more at the end, but presenting his behavior like it’s all a put-on to save his son’s position, I found that almost offensive.
“Now is the time for you to choose. You’ll lose both trying to save both.” This was probably the roughest, most difficult moment of the series. I can’t imagine, the poor woman having to pick between her husband and her son. Awful. Presented pretty well, though.
“Everything stems from my illegitimate birth.” The scene with Youngjo and Sunhee was the best thing in the episode. How tragic that only now does he reflect on his conduct and fault himself for what he deserves to be faulted for. And what was really sad about it to me was, I just kept thinking Reach out to him, it’s never too late to try and start mending things. But obviously that never happened.
Didn’t care for the ending, how he’s all reflective and at peace with everything. I guess it made sense that he’s tired of fearing consequences, but is there any real reason to think that his father is going to have him put to death? That’s exactly what he said—Today I’m going to die. Again I don’t know the story all that well but I’m not sure he or anybody else would expect such a thing.
