...is up on Kocowa now, with subs. As usual, if you're not a subscriber then watch in within 24 hours before it goes behind the paywall.
Feels like this one could be a turning point quality-wise, for better or worse. Fingers crossed....

“It is dangerous if you ride that fast!” Yeah it’s dangerous if you WRITE that fast too, you end up with stupid ideas. “His majesty is in critical condition.” All right, stop it. We know he’s going to be fine. You can’t finish the series without him, everybody knows he’s the most important character. Trying to create drama with a made-up illness to the main character in the middle of a series, you can never take it seriously and it never works. Ever. Actually maybe this was just an excuse to take his shirt off for the female viewers. Seriously, could that be it, or part of it? That’s not out of the question. “This happened because he could not tame his burning anger toward you!” Well that’s a little unfair...he should have just clenched his fist like everyone is supposed to do. (click for full size) There we go! See, Lady Kim got the memo. Both fists, talk about giving it your all! Hmm, now they’re doing that medicinal thing on his bare chest. I may be right. Wow Gamchan comes from a rich family, we can really see that now. Empress Wonjeong: “The rest of the chancellors will take on your duties. I, too, will help them.” Un-oh, getting shades of LBKT here and not the good stuff…. (click for full size) Yep, here we go. So Yoo Jin rationalizes all of this by saying he wasn’t successful enough in influencing Mokjong or Hyeonjong, so now he thinks it’s okay to lose his spine and become an empress’s puppet. Seriously? Going to great lengths to work all of this fiction into the story. And now Gamchan is divinely blessed by a meteor that exploded just a few feet above this parents’ house and hurt no one but comfortably warmed the baby. Good grief. (click for full size) Oh look at this, now we have a full-blown conspiracy going with the The Black Assassin having somebody on the inside working for him. Sigh.... “If his majesty passes away like this, it will all be my fault.” No it won’t. Enough of that. But otherwise the scene with Gamchan and his wife was the highlight of the episode. That sort of reflection and introspection, it doesn’t get you a lot of ratings points but it makes your characters real and relatable. Oh and look, now they’ve brought a little boy into the court and are scaring the living heck out of him. BOOOOO. Well I’ll say this much, except for a couple of things it was a well-written piece of fiction. A clever storyline with a fun twist at the end. Certainly marrying the Kim daughter this way is a lot more interesting than just the result of a good bath. It was all very effective, no question. But you can’t fully invest yourself in it because you know it’s all baloney. If the head writer had a burning desire to create a multi-level conspiracy angle, he should have simply saved it and created a fictional series for it. Shoving it into one of the best stories in all of Korean history with so many real events to write about, terrible decision. And as we’ve seen in the past, big fiction like this often leads to continuity problems later in the series when you’re dealing with the real history again. We shall see.

Wow Gamchan comes from a rich family, we can really see that now. His father Kang Gungjin was one of the regional lords that helped Wang Guhn in foundation of Goryeo dynasty. And now Gamchan is divinely blessed by a meteor that exploded just a few feet above this parents’ house and hurt no one but comfortably warmed the baby. Good grief. This story is most likely fiction, but it wasn't made up by the writer of this drama. This story is actually a legitimate story recorded in History of Goryeo, the only remaining historical text about Goryeo Dynasty and the only Korean book that this drama is using as a historical source for this show. Whoever came up with this story is either the Goryeo historians who wrote the Annals of Goryeo Dynasty(burned during Imjin War) or the Joseon historians who wrote History of Goryeo, not the writer of this drama. Certainly marrying the Kim daughter this way is a lot more interesting than just the result of a good bath. Kim daughter's marriage and Choi Sawi being sent to Seogyeong were probably the only historical facts of this episode. (and maybe the Kang Gamchan's meteor story that was recorded as a legitimate fact in the original historical text as well)

I haven’t watched the episode yet, but I’m probably going to hold off on watching any more episodes until the next invasion starts.
Whether I’ll watch this arc later or not, I don’t know. Depends I guess

Same here, i am waiting for the third invasion also . Of course i will watch these episodes im just having trouble getting into it since the second invasion ended .
The whole black assassin story is sort of a turn off . I was hoping it would just be a minor background story .

Gang Gamchan’s biography states that “he always wore shabby clothes so that his disheveled looks were no different from a commoner,” so him looking humble earlier in the show despite coming from a rich background does have basis, so there’s that.
It’s also written that from a young age he loved learning and devising extraordinary plans.
