The Way Home. Has anyone seen that movie? It's available in Blockbusters, too. I give two thumbs up for it!

Oh yes, I saw "Way Home" a few months ago and thought it was a beautiful film: quiet and understated but sweet and poignant. It is a simple story about a selfish little boy sent to the country to live with his mute grandmother for a brief time. I was struck by the authenticity of the village (particularly the character of the grandmother). I wouldn't be surprised if the little boy is the only professional actor in the movie. I haven't watched many Korean movies to compare with(this is only the second Korean movie title that I found at Blockbuster), but this film is quite a little gem.

I saw it and I absolutely loved it! It was so moving. Do you guys recognize the little boy as the actor who played Andrea as a little boy in "Love Letter"? I found this link: www.paramountclassics.com/wayhome/and yes, this little boy was the only professional actor in the film. The producer wanted to give this film an authentic feel so the granny she picked out had to be persuaded to be in this film. In fact, the info says that she had never even seen a motion picture before!

The Way Home (aka Jibeuro) is such a remarkable film and it came on the Sundance channel not to long ago. I am so sad that I didn’t see this tread earlier because it reappeared on the Sundance channel on November 28, 03. Well if it comes on again I will be sure to inform everyone. Also, I know how hard it is renting a foreign films from retailers its hard and they sometimes don’t have many copies. Well this movie really made me appreciate grandmothers more not saying I didn’t already but it was truly a deep and emotional film. Wow galacticchick I was looking at the little boy in the movie and he looked so familiar didn’t realize that he was the same actor who was in love letter. Wow its all clear now. Well going off the subject for those who have not seen Chunhyang it is coming on the Sundance channel on 12/10/03 3:00pm, 12/11/03 5:30am, 12/14/03 11:30am and 12/18/03 12:30pm. I just wanted to get the word out because this is one of my favorite Korean movies. ;D ;D ;D ;D Mariah
