(Remember, this one is marked #30 in the YouTube list because #27 is missing and the remaining episodes were shifted by one.)
Finally this thing has picked up the pace a bit, after way too long dragging and repeating things. This was a pretty good episode.
The grandson seems strangely happy being in front of his sick grandfather, what’s with that? No sign of concern for him? Apparently he was happy to see him feeling better, I guess...but it was just odd, everyone else is so concerned and he's sitting there just about beaming.
“If you give an order, we can have 100 men in an instant!” What good is 100 men going to do? Even if you can take over the palace complex temporarily, you can’t hold it with 100 men when the military gets going. The writers should have made it thousands, not 100.
Sado explaining why he won’t revolt against his father, that was absolutely terrific. The earlier, teenage Sado, it made no sense for Im Ho to be playing that person. This older Sado, he’s perfect for it. Has always been excellent with this type of character.
Wait, Sado’s mom and sister went to Mistress Moon and begged her not to squeal on Sado? That seems like it would have been a huge deal--surprised we didn’t get that scene.
It’s strange how there seems to have been this expectation that the king could be kept in the dark about something as important as the prince leaving town for two weeks. And everybody expected it! If nothing else they all should have known that Mistress Moon would squeal.
“It was a lie, your majesty.” That was quite a moment! The series could have used a lot more of these. It did seem a little confusing--Youngjo was scolding his entire court for not telling him what this official has just told him. Isn’t that going to get them all in trouble, including Kim Sang-ro who set this all up? I guess Kim thinks the benefit is worth the cost.
And it set up a darned good cliffhanger ending. For the first time in quite a while I’m looking forward to the next episode and not just planning on watching to finish the series.
