Normally I would say this is spoilers for Dawn of the Empire but since English subs for that one do not exist, might as well. Regardless, some of what happens after the series’s triumphant conclusion can be best described as a downer, especially since many of these comrades end up becoming
Park Sulhee was entrusted with protecting Wang Geon’s successor Hyejong on his death bed. And while Hyejong bedridden with illness, there was strife between Park Sulhee and Wang Gyu. He gathered soldiers to go against Wang Gyu, but Hyejong saw this is as an act of treason and had him exiled. Wang Gyu later forged an edict that ordered him executed.
Wang Gyu later started a revolt which was suppressed by Wang Singnyom, Taejo’s cousin. Karmically Wang Gyu was exiled to where Park Sulhee was sent and was also executed there. Wang Gyu’s plots against Hyejong is said to have made him incredibly paranoid and may have worsened his health.
Wang Singnyom died on the first month of Cheoljong’s fourth year and was enshrined in the royal ancestor shrine, basically putting him on the level of monarchs.
Yu Geumpil was enshrined next to Taejo in the Royal Ancestor shrine after his death.
There’s probably more besides this but the strife between Park Sulhee and Wang Gyu is the first thing that came to mind.
