Just the usual reminder that the episode numbers for the later episodes are shifted by one on YouTube because 27 is missing. So to watch episode 30 you click on the one marked episode 29.

Again, a better episode than we had been getting for a while. Partly because we’re getting closer to the end and can’t avoid the weightier stuff, and partly because we’re getting a lot less of Mistress Moon. It’s about time for both.
“What a relief that you’re not like your father!” That’s an insensitive thing to say to a kid, even if you are the king. But wasn’t it interesting to see the sour looks on the officials’ faces. Like they’re sympathetic towards Sado.
Another long scene with Sado headed out to wander around and everybody around him freaking out over it. Been there, done that.
Sado: “Why were so many parts erased?” “There were misspellings.” I wonder if he actually bought that. He wasn’t letting on if he did…but maybe that was the intention.
“Heard anything about me from grandfather?” So he did suspect. “The sentences where father complimented you were erased at the end.” Once again showing he’s no fool. But then getting upset with his son, that was going too far. The kid was just trying to protect him. Overall the scene with Sado losing his temper at everyone, that was excellent. We’re starting to (finally) get to see the severely damaged state of mind that Sado ended up in. We needed to see a lot more of this, a lot sooner, and with a lot more backstory.
Hwawan: “You’re partly to blame for brother. You have no greed. You’re too indifferent. You don’t wish to protect your children…I would do anything to make my children receive their father’s love.” Wow that was quite a harangue she dumped on her mom. Nothing she said was wrong but maybe not the time for it.
So apparently Sado’s enemies sent somebody out claiming to be Sado to cause trouble. Would that really work? I wonder. It just takes one person who knows what Sado looks like to get a look at the phony prince and the whole thing comes apart. Doesn’t it?
“Have you heard the recent rumors?” Boy that is never a good way to start a conversation, not in this series!
Now Hwawan is giving it to LH and her father? Wow. Maybe she feels entitled to speak her mind after what she did for them with the palaces.
The king and queen together, it’s just creepy.
Kim Sang-ro: “The people don’t believe the rumors. You overdid it…and the people are protecting the prince.” Yeah.
The pace of these episodes continues to be very, very slow. But it’s more bearable if there are significant things happening, as opposed to just bickering among women in the court.
