I'm going to have my hands full on Sunday and Monday, so I'll be late getting to this episode. Probably I'll finish watching it on Tuesday and will get on here for everything on Tuesday or Wednesday. My apologies to everyone posting or visiting. By next weekend things should be more back to normal.

The rating rose to 10%, which is the highest rating so far.
Korean viewers online are saying this was all due to CSJ having more screen time.
I agree with this view.

Notably lot of offscreen battles though considering the budget, it can’t be helped. It might be for the best because siege warfare often looks the same especially having seen it in plenty of historicals (and not just Korean)
I wonder if they’ll bring up Dae Dosu being a descendant of the Balhae royal family (this episode just briefly mentions he’s avenging Balhae)

I wonder if they’ll bring up Dae Dosu being a descendant of the Balhae royal family They probably won't. I think the actor made his last appearance.

So we have this joke about that general thinking everytime he goes to a fortress it falls to the Khitans, right? Making him a source of Jinxing.
Perhaps Hyeonjong saying everything will be alright after news of vicotry is also a jinx, because something always goes wrong afterwards

Mostly very good in this one, enjoyed it. Not too much silliness, thank goodness. Forgot to mention this last time but during the bridge scene between the episodes, we see this: (click for full size) Way back in Dae Joyoung, Lee Deok Hwa’s Khitan character kept waving one of those fuzzy things around and we were all wondering what that was and whether or not it was legitimate. I had a thread about it; had tried but couldn’t find any answers. Big surprise to see it here too! Is it any better known or explained in 2023? deiner.proboards.com/thread/6485/featherduster-remains-mysteryThe sigh from Xiao Paiya when Gamchan asks to be let through...loved that, this actor is doing a terrific job of creating an interesting character. “Who in the world would dare decieve the Emperor of Great Khitan Empire?” And now XP is back to the only smart one in the room, and getting chewed out for it. Great stuff. Ugh, another chase scene. Please writers don’t keep trying to add drama with chase scenes. Lazy writing. …but then the writers redeemed themselves with the subordinate in Seogyeong Fortress, trapped between doing the right thing and benefitting himself. Those are always entertaining situations. I thought the best thing in this one was Gamchan getting chewed out by the officials after the big meeting, and not responding with some immediate trump argument. Good for the writers for not taking this complicated situation and reducing it to This-character-is-correct-and-that-character-is-wrong. “You should have stayed there to enjoy being treated well.” Another winner with the missus. She even almost smiled at him this time. These scenes are becoming a highlight. Wait...multiple victories in Seogyeong already? Can you writers please explain this to us better than just have celebrating villagers and a royal messenger? What happened exactly? At least give us a map and some narrated text, okay? Good grief. (click for full size) He’s wearing pretty much the same outfit that his predecessor got me wondering about. Have we had enough of the Khitan Emperor getting triggered? He’s a hothead, we get it. Good to hear about the strong ratings, sure hope it's enough to get us another series. But do they all have to have CSJ in them from now on?

He’s wearing pretty much the same outfit that his predecessor got me wondering about. Not sure what there is to wonder about. Character roster error: Jung Sung (10) - Commander of Heunghwajin Fortress is the same person as Jeong Seong (2) – Military officer at Heunghwajin Fortress.
