Kind of a sad beginning. They must really think the guy is beyond help, not to even toss their own family member a chance to do some low-level work.
She’s a little odd, isn’t she? Not really in a bad way, just very close-and-comfortable, with her brother especially. And who gets something out of their eye by asking somebody else to blow into it? What the heck was that all about.
The nighttime scene of the prince practicing his sword, it wasn’t overlit but we could still see exactly what was going on. Very nice!
Anybody else remember Ming the Merciless from the old Flash Gordon serials?
HA! That guy reminded me of somebody, but I couldn’t place the face…now I can’t stop laughing
What, they won’t even look at each other? The political situation is that contentious? Wow. But it was nice of Hong to leave with a bow like that. Somebody needs to be the bigger person if these kinds of messes are ever going to get fixed.
“Mother—what did the fortuneteller say?” “She said it’s a boy for sure.” Now that’s more like it! Why couldn’t EWG do that, not even once?
Mrs. Moon: “No, no, God will punish us for such a sin. You should be afraid of Heaven. It sees and hears everything you do and say.” She scowled at her daughter-in-law for reminding her about that…but clearly it hit home.
This is going to be a very strange storyline going forward. Mistress Moon really thinks she can pull off a baby switch right there under the nose of everyone in the palace? Especially with her saying how much everyone else dislikes her, they’ll be watching her like a hawk. And already there are rumors about her planning to do exactly what she’s talking about doing. It’s just sad that she’s dragging her mom into all of this silliness.
Sure hope these incidents of sound being muted don’t become a practice. They sure are annoying. But on the other hand, somebody deserves big credit for the subtitles in this series, because they’re actually subtitling the names of the characters. We’ve almost never gotten this in the other shows we’ve watched here. It’s a big help, especially if you don’t already know the historical story and aren’t familiar with the historical figures.
■ Princess Hwa-wan is Youngjo’s 9th daughter. Also the daughter of Queen Sun-hee and married to Jung Chi-dal. She was one of Youngjo’s favorite daughters.
