Koma Shrine (高麗神社, Koma Jinja) is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Hidaka, Saitama. The word "Koma" is how Goryeo is pronounced in Japanese. Goguryeo changed its name to Goryeo during King Jangsu's reign. Prince Go Yakgwang (高若光), son of the last king of Goguryeo(King Bojang), is deified in this shrine. Koma Fumiyasu, the 60th direct descendant of Go Yakgwang (which would make him 61st direct descendant of King Bojang). According to interview, he is very proud to be descendant of Goguryeo royal family and has never thought of Koreans as foreigners. www.joongang.co.kr/article/376504#homeResidents of town dressed up in Goguryeo costume to celebrate Goguryeo Actor Ji Changwook visiting the Koma Shrine to pay tribute to Go Yakgwang. He is set to play Goguryeo's King Gogukcheon in upcoming TVING drama Queen Woo. The Japanese girl next him is wearing an accurate Goguryeo costume. Ironic how the Japanese are more accurate than the Korean dramas that keep showing fantasy costumes in almost all Goguryeo dramas. Koma Mayu, a descendant of Goguryeo royal family, will be debuting as a member of Kpop group Triple S member next month. 髙麗真友, the Chinese characters of Koma Mayu's name, is read as Goryeo Jinwoo in Korean. Town residents dressed up in Goguryeo costume to celebrate Goguryeo. Goguryeo music preserved by Goguryeo descendants in Japan Goguryeo's music did not survive in Korea, unfortunately.

I just hope they don't use fantasy costumes in the upcoming Queen Woo drama. I can understand making some changes to make the costume look prettier, but they should at least base it on the original costume instead of coming up with fantasy costumes that look nothing like the original ones.

Especially with the tensions between the two countries today, it's real nice to see this. Korea-Japan relationship has actually been improving under the current SK president's administration. Biden met up with SK President and Japan's Prime Minister at Camp David last month for trilateral summit. The 3 countries will apparently meet up together every year from now on. Koma Fumiyasu, the 60th direct descendant of Go Yakgwang (which would make him 61st direct descendant of King Bojang). According to interview, he is very proud to be descendant of Goguryeo royal family and has never thought of Koreans as foreigners. www.joongang.co.kr/article/376504#homeIn the same interview, Mr. Koma also criticized Chinese attempt to steal Goguryeo history and declared that his ancestors were Koreans, not Chinese. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%8Cuchi_clanI researched about other descendants of ancient Korean refugees in Japan and learned that Ouchi Clan is a descendant of Baekje royal family. They're descendant of Prince Imseong, the 3rd son of Baekje's King Seong, who fled to Japan during a power struggle in Baekje. The Ouchi Clan was also officially recognized as Baekje royal family descendants by King Jeongjong(Taejong's brother) of Joseon dynasty. akb48.fandom.com/wiki/Ouchi_RinkaOuchi Rinka, a member of Japanese idol girl group HKT48, is from the Ouchi clan, which would make her a descendant of Baekje royal family. She's apparently learning Korean right now even though she doesn't live in Korea nor does her group promotes in Korea. The Ouchi clan is very proud to be descendant of Baekje royal family according to interview with Ouchi Kimio, the direct descendant of Prince Imseong, so that might be why Ouchi Rinka is learning Korean. Shim Chan, a descendant of King Sejong's father-in-law Shim On, was captured by Shimazu Yoshihiro's army during Imjin War and taken to Japan. Shim Chan became a potter in Japan and his descendants have inherited their ancestor's potter business ever since. The Shim family maintained their Shim last name until Japan annexed Korea in 1910. They changed their surname to Osako after Korea was annexed, possibly to avoid discrimination. Their family had been in Japan for 300 years at that point, but having a Korean surname could have their family get mistaken as new Korean immigrants. Many ethnic Koreans who moved to Japan during the Japanese occupation have Japanese surnames besides their Korean surname as well. Osako Kazuteru, the 15th direct descendant of Shim Chan, visited Korea last year to pay tribute to the tomb of Shim Wooin, the father of Shim Chan. He broke into tears in an interview and said "For the last 424 years, our family has never committed any misbehavior that could dishonor the Shim clan."

Prince Shotoku! I watched this drama special a couple months ago and was really impressed by portrayal of the Baekje influence.

Where did you watch it? English subbed or not? I found it on a private torrent site quite honestly - very well subbed though!
