Very strange. Only five episodes left, we still have three kingdoms, and they devoted this episode to more buildup for Kyun-hwon’s attempt to escape his confinement. The final four are going to have to be absolutely jam-packed to wrap this thing up properly. And we keep hearing about a winner-take-all final battle, are we going to get that too? In four episodes? Better hurry up guys!
This one started out pretty much repeating the end of the previous one, but not nearly as well done. They shouldn’t have bothered. We didn’t need reminding; it wasn’t necessary.
Park Young-kyu: “You are very much like your father, madam.” That was funny, but not at all wrong. She’s turned out to be an interesting character. And she looks like she could glare just like her father does.
I hadn’t heard the word “ridgepole” before--it’s the top structural beam of a roof. So what the temple is having is basically a topping-off party. They do that all the time these days with bigger buildings.
Hey it’s Oh Darin! We haven’t seen him since he got kicked out of the capital for meddling to get his grandson named crown prince. They guy playing him is a good actor, one of the best supporting players.
Shin-guhm: “I was foolish for thinking I could win (father’s) blessings.” Well that took long enough. His mother may be right, his waffling about this may have cost valuable time in shoring up public support. Unfortunately we don’t get enough feel in this series for what the larger public is thinking or saying.
I don't know why he found that mildly amusing. Padal is enough of a dimwit that he might just execute all of those monks if KH gets free.
This guy playing the squad leader, have we seen him in other things as well? As usual I am terrible with faces but he sure does look familiar.
WG: “The very existence of Bekjae will become meaningless when its king comes to Koryo.” But he’s not the king any more! Why does all of this matter so much? For any reason other than symbolic, that is. Right now it doesn’t seem all that more meaningful than Ahjagae coming to Koryo--yes a great PR coup but it doesn’t change anything substantive. This wasn’t a bad episode at all but this was the fourth episode in a row without a narrated text and it sure feels like we could use one right now.
