Wow I do NOT like what DailyMotion is doing with their ads now. Videos instead of banners, whatever…but interrupting the stream every five minutes with thirty seconds of ads is not the way to do it. We had eleven interruptions during this episode. Every ten minutes would be tolerable, but this could get very annoying very quickly. Hope they make some adjustments.

This was one of those episodes where they starting to set things up for big events to come. So it wasn’t going to be terribly eventful. It wasn’t bad but it had a few head-scratching moments that could have been avoided and probably should have been. So that was a negative. But it was worth watching if only because of the terrific work by the guy playing Kyun-hwon. This may have been his best episode. Terrific stuff. KH isn’t the morbidly fascinating character that Goongyae was, but his success and his staying power have been remarkable.
I wonder if there was a subtlety lost in the translation somewhere. Why would Neunghwan have someone else deliver his own message? He’s the prime minister, he doesn’t need anyone to speak for him. When Kyun-hwon accused his brother of using someone else’s words, did he mean that literally? Seemed sort of odd.
Neunghwan: “Somewhere along the way you began to change. You’ve begun to pay no heed to your loyal subjects and gave your confidence to the treacherous few.” Huh? That is not the way to get your point across successfully. There’s a valid difference of opinion here—it doesn’t help to call your opponents “treacherous” when they’re not.
Neungyae: “How can we deal with this when he continues to shun the rightful heir who has no flaws?” No flaws? Seriously? Wow.
Bok Jikyum to Yu Geumpil: “Witnesses say you were like Warrior Zhao Zilong of China.” Yeah that’s a valid reference, to a general from the early 3rd century AD.

From the Wikipedia entry it does sound like the reference makes sense, too.
Do you really have to go through all of that “testing” like Choi Ung described to figure out you should be able to rely on the Gochang leadership? Seems like it’s almost a lock just from knowing they have Shilla royal blood in them.
“Acquiring it Is as good as acquiring half of the Three Kingdoms.” I don’t recall ever hearing the name Gochang before, not once. Why are we to believe that it’s so important if it’s never even been referred to before? This was a mistake. At least we should be getting a very good explanation about why it’s so important now.
WG says he wants to go out to the Gochang battlefield again and see KH. Wonderful, that’s worked out so well before, hasn’t it. Good grief.
KH: “Gochang is a region controlled by descendants of Shilla royalty. And they have a strong private defense force.” Don’t know if this was just writer’s license or an intent to show something, but I couldn’t help notice that KH already knew this stuff but WG had to be told about it. I wonder if there’s any meaning in that.
I love how the astrologer tells WG that he had “the Three Disasters” in his stars...AFTER all the bad stuff happened. What a joke. He shouldn’t be in this series. Even if there was actually reliance on astrology in the past, this guy serves no purpose besides saying I told ya so. And being kind of a human spoiler. It made for a hokey ending too.
