Kyun-hwon: “Especially Geum-kang, you did a fine job.” Well we know where this is headed, don’t we....
“How about sending Geum-kang instead of Shin-guhm?” Wow did that completely jolt everything! All of a sudden a cold wind swept through the room. This succession thing, it’s been a yappy annoyance but that moment felt like it blew up into a major crisis. Strange because assuming that KH’s one episode of blood-vomiting was the older signal of anger, like Sean explained, instead of the newer signal that his number’s almost up, then KH still really is in remarkably good health and there’s no imminent concern for him not being on the throne soon.
Even the missus is starting to look a little warped about all of the Geum-kang praise, beyond the usual. And frankly this time she has reason to be bugged by it. Because GK really didn’t do anything--those local lords surrendered because of Bekjae’s previous battle victories, not because GK did anything special.
KH: “Remember there is talent above talent, and humble yourself.” Great line. Exactly what a wise leader should say to his followers.
Will they never learn?
Park Young-kyu to Geum-kang: “Turn a blind eye, your highness.” Oooohhh maybe not the best choice of words there. Ouch.
Wang Guhn: “Just watch while we are under attack?” This may be the episode with the least amount of Koryo content! Either way, Choi Ung does make sense, the troops are exhausted. But what nobody mentioned is that they know Shin-guhm is in command of the attack, and they can always hope he’ll produce like he usually produces. Not trying to make fun of the guy, it’s just a simple fact.
Shin-guhm: “What good is success when nothing is good enough for father?” Well come on, most of it was your own stupidity. But not all of it, fair enough.
KH: “I’ve heard this a million times. Get to the point.” LOL!
KH: “You dare try to lecture me, Neungyae?” Yeah he sure does dare to--agree or disagree with him, give him credit, this takes guts, even if he is a brother. “I came here prepared for death.” Was he prepared for a bump on the head? The timing of this was odd--KH said he’d wait until he saw how Shin-guhm did in his current assignment, so why push the issue now either way--but maybe he thought it simply needed to be said before another day had passed. Kind of an odd cliffhanger ending, you don’t know if KH is actually going to strike somebody with that sword, or if his head will explode right off his body first.

■ In July of 929 AD, Kyun-hwon gave Shin-guhm a detachment of 5,000 troops and ordered an attack on Moonso County. Moonso was the only passageway between Koryo and Shilla while also being the point of aid for Moonkyung, Yaechun, Andong and Young-ju. Andong, in particular, was an autonomous territory that did not belong to either Bekjae or Koryo at the time. Hence Moonso County had great influence over control of the entire north Kyungsang Province.
