Season 12: Mapo Port Episodes: 158 Broadcast Date: April 1st 1979~October 5th 1979 Plot: Two merchant families feud in Late Joseon's Mapo Port until King Gojong runs to the Russian Legation, after which they face hardship both from Japan and Russia.
No information on the cast, but this is supposed to be Lee Mi Suk's debut apparently.
Season 13: Lament of the Mandarin Duck Episodes: 124 Broadcast Date: October 7th 1979~March 14th 1980 Director: Kim Jae Hyeong Writer: Lee Cheol Hyang
Description by TBC: "A noble love story of a woman devoted to her husband and family, and a man who walks the path of loyalty, justice and love for his country!" Cast: Han Jin Hee, Jang Mi Hee, Kim Se Yun, Tae Hyeon Shil, Jo Ok Hee, Im Dong Jin, Han Woori, Yeon Gyu Jin, Cha Hwa Yeon and Lee Mi Suk
Plot: Seems like it's a love triangle/square in King Myeongjong's time between Lady Yeonok, Lady Hwaok and Scholar Jang Heon, all amidst the political machinations of Queen Munjeong, Jeong Nan Jeong and Yun Won Hyeong. The show ends with the deaths of Queen Munjeong, Nan Jeong, Won Hyeong and Jang Heon (poisoned by Queen Munjeong). Someone accuses Yeonok of sleeping with Yun Won Hyeong, and Yun Won Hyeong tortures Jang Heon into a false confession? That's as much as I could get from the synopses.
A picture from the show, which JTBC showed an episode of on TBC Memory Lane back in 2011:

This is great, can't thank you enough for putting so much information on these series here in the forum. Really appreciate it.
And just to give proper credit, there's never been a more unusual title for a long historical than "Lament of the Mandarin Duck". There must be some sensible explanation for it but it certainly paints an odd picture!
