This this gotten very, very intricate and nuanced all of a sudden. So many angles and motives from multiple directions. Some impressive writing going on right now and I’m eager to see if they can maintain it through all of the complexity.
“Yes, his majesty sees all things. You should fear him. You should indeed.” This was great--in the middle of all of that intense gravity over confessing high treason, suddenly Jongkahn breaks into a big silly smile because the two confessors are so terrified of Goongyae’s bogus mind-reading. Like we were sharing an inside joke. Loved that.
For just a few minutes there you had some hope for Goongyae, like he understood what Ahjitae had done and didn’t have him up on a pedestal any more, and was finally ready to make the break with him. But no. And as it went on there was this sick feeling that started to grow, like a huge miscarriage of justice was about to be done...
...and now you really do not know what’s going to happen. There’s just nothing out there to clue us in on how this will end up. Terrific writing.
There they are again with the wooden planks on the legs. One of these times somebody’s going to explain why that’s the torture method of choice.
Again with WG traveling on one boat. Total assassination bait.
Eunbu: “Wang Guhn might hold hands with Ahjitae and plot against us.” WOW that is something I never expected to hear. Eunbu, for all his doing Jongkahn’s bidding, has always quietly shown respect for WG and not seen anything ominous or foreboding in him. Not until now.
Eunbu: “How about we tie Wang Guhn into this case and put an end to it?” All right now that’s never gonna work and Eunbu should know it. For a cliffhanger ending this one is difficult to buy. They all saw WG get accused of treason once before and Goongyae never took it seriously for one moment. Hopefully they pull back from this when the next episode starts.
