I started this series (at Viki) starring Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyo Joo, and OMG it is so good. It's a story about two worlds - one is the real world and the other is a comic world. The female lead named Oh Yeon Joo has a cartoonist father who writes a webtoon series called "W" and somehow or other the two worlds collide when Oh Yeon Joo is transported to the comic world.
I have to say the first episode was amazing. I had actually meant to watch this for a while because my brother recommended it to me some time back. But I never really liked the main male lead. I've seen him here and there and was not impressed so that held me back. Well, let me tell you, by the end of this episode I definitely changed my mind about him. He has great screen presence that I never would've suspected and cute to boot as well.
The episode started out with a bang. Literally. The main character Kang Cheol is an Olympic medalist contender in pistol shooting when the episode begins. He makes a come-back at the last minute to win the gold. It was so exciting. Then before anyone could draw a breath to wish him congratulations, the scene changes to a family living room where Kang Cheol's whole family is killed off. With the same pistol Kang Cheol used to win the gold medal. He gets arrested and is sent to prison. Second appeal sets him free however. The Supreme Court decides the evidence used against Kang Cheol is inadmissible in court. By the time he is set free a year has passed. And his life is in shambles. He lives alone another year before he decides he can't take it anymore and decides to kill himself. But at the last minute he decides to live to find the murderer of his family.
This whole story was just so unbelievably sad. You really feel justice is blind indeed.
Then the scene switches to Oh Yeon Joo's world where she's a doctor. She finds out her father has disappeared without a trace. She goes to his studio where he does all his cartooning and there she finds out through his assistant Soo Bong that he intends to kill the main character of his comic series, "W". Soo Bong shows her the almost-dead body of Kang Cheol that her father had drawn before he disappeared. While she has her back turned to the screen, the body of Kang Cheol moves and his blood-covered hand comes out of the screen to grab her and drag her into the comic world.
This scene really really freaked me out. Hubby was up in the family room watching his stuff and I was watching on my iPad in the bedroom. And when this happened I screamed and threw the iPad away from me. I just didn't expect what happened. It was just so scary. Hubby called down, "Is it a spider?"
Anyway, in the comic world Oh Yeon Joo saves Kang Cheol and is transported back to her world. Then she finds out everything that happened to her in the comic world is uploaded as the next chapter of "W" and viewers are having a hay day trying to make sense of the story. Meanwhile, in the comic world everyone is looking for her, the only "witness" in the stabbing incident of Kang Cheol, who is by now a very important person. A CEO and a self-made multi-millionaire.
All the characters so far are very likable, especially the two main characters. I really like this actor Lee Jong Suk. Let's see if the next episode is just as good. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for posting this. It always helps the forum when someone offers their reaction to a series that's airing. Even if no one else here is watching it now, someday someone looking online for information will turn up here and find this. Makes the forum a better resource.

Thanks for letting me know - I'll post more often on dramas I watch. I won't feel like I'm jibber-jabbering to myself so much now.

I just re-watched episode 2 cuz it's been a while since I watched it last. So so good. I just love all the characters so much, especially the two main leads.
So for some reason Oh Yeon Jo's father the cartoonist is determined to kill off his main character in his comic series "W". Yeon Joo gets wind of this and tries to convince him not to. She then gets pulled into the comic world again just as Kang Cheol's life is in danger and gets a chance to save his life for the second time. All her doings are automatically portrayed in the comic series. Her father who who was drawing to kill Kang Cheol is astonished when his own daughter appears in his comic and saves KC.
Yeon Joo is stuck in the comic world much longer than the first time she was there. She then figures out that in order for her to come back to her world, there has to be a cliffhanger, but the cliffhanger has to revolve around the main character Kang Cheol. So in desperation to get back to her world, she slaps him across the face. He's surprised but not that much because she's still there. So then she changes tactics and kisses him, this time really shocking him. This works and she is transported back to her world, leaving Kang Cheol and all the on-lookers baffled.
Ohmgosh, this scene was so funny. She is so cute and so is he.

Episode 3
Just finished it. Ohmgosh it was so good!! Lee Jong Suk is so gorgeous!!
We find out why Oh Yeon Jo's father (the creator of the comic series W) is anxious to kill off his main character Kang Cheol. From a while back he realized KC is starting to have a will of his own, and when he doesn't like the way a storyline is going he changes it. The creator (understandably) is freaked out and wants to kill off the character and be done with the whole series. But his daughter keeps interfering by showing up in the comic and saving KC.
Oh Yeon Joo is pulled into the comic world once again. And this time she's trapped there cuz Kang Cheol knows now the only way she can leave his world is if she does something to really surprise him. Ohmgosh, when she flashes herself to surprise him to go back to her world was so hysterical! Then in another scene she tells him suddenly that she loves him. So funny. Then when she realizes it didn't work she was like "Nevermind." I laughed so hard.
I loved the ending when KC asks her if she's married and she says no and he says that's good. So so so cute!...
I just love all the characters, of course the main leads but also the father, the cartoon assistant guy, the chief of staff doctor, the other intern, KC's bodyguard - everyone. And I don't know what it is but I just love the premise of the girl getting pulled into the comic world and her trying to learn all the rules on how his world works and how he is the center of everything because he's the main character - so interesting.

I finished this almost like a year ago!! I still remember it vividly. That's how good it was. Although Hubby bailed on me. He didnt like Lee Jong Suk at all. I dont know why!! He loved Park Bo Gum in Moonlight Drawn by Clouds...
Anyway, this drama was not perfection. There were some flaws with the law of logic when Lee Jong Suk's character was going back and forth from the real world to his world. But other than that it was really fun. I thought all the actors were superb and the story so original and entertaining. LJS's acting was a little wooden here and there but I chalked that up to his personality rather than to bad acting. He's so gorgeous anyway, I could just stare at him all day.
I remember to write this cuz I'm actually thinking about watching it again. Or maybe speed-watching... you know, just watch my fave scenes...
