So I'm sitting here waiting for 24.7 to show episode 3 of Jingbirok, same time and place as last Saturday night...but it's not there. Instead 24.7 is running a 24-hour KBS news channel. Trying to figure out what the heck is going on...and I stumbled across this announcement on the KBS World website:
Update : 2015-03-19
KBS World 24 launched in Chicago, USA
KBS has launched KBS World 24 channel in Chicago, USA on digital terrestrial channel WPVN since March 19.
KBS World 24 is a news/documentary channel to provide differentiated TV service for overseas Koreans.
Thank you.
There's a similar announcement on the WPVN (Channel 24) website. So apparently the regular KBS World programs won't be shown on 24.7 any more. This must be what Mr. Bae was referring to when he said that KBS would be ending on 24.7. Well fine, okay. But 13.2 is not running the regular North American viewing schedule that 24.7 was. How are we supposed to know when anything we want to watch is on?
I'm getting totally fed up with this. Complete lack of respect for the viewing audience. Why even bother to put the subtitles in? If you're going to scramble stations and schedules (oh and chop up the episodes before you air them locally) why even bother?
I'll call the 13.2 people on Monday morning and see if I can get some answers.

Hey ajk and the rest of us mushrooms, Yeah, I was a little confused as to why the repeat of Drama Special didn't air on Friday, and even more importantly, why the final episode of the current installment, The Perfect Day of The Ladies didn't air last night, but there seemed to be some political debate preempting regular programming. The real tell was when I just checked my recording of the Monday afternoon repeat of DS and discovered I now had an non subtitled episode of Spotlight on Humanity, hardly a suitable replacement. It's funny, because I did notice this morning that the WPVN site sent me to an actual working schedule from KBS World, but I didn't take notice of the little added "24" to the logo (no relation to Jack Bauer, but it does resemble his handywork). Alright, it seems we've been cast into the abyss by all of the powers that be, but at least there is a schedule (if you can figure its relation to local time successfully) kbsworld.kbs.co.kr/schedule/pop_all_schedule.phpIt seems that you can set the times for Central time, although the local Korea time does not reflect Daylight Saving, so you'll have to work with it and probably make manual adjustments. As for Drama Special, it seems that it has officially ended, unless the repeats listed on Mon, Wed, Thurs are actually what we have been viewing here up until now. I think that this is whole thing is not as bad as it seems (unless this means that we'll have to deal with Korean local air times and the prime time dramas will all be in the middle of the night, just like the 1988 Summer Olympics; I only heard rumors, I didn't actually watch them ) So, here's the actual daily schedule in real time, link and hopefully, all will sort itself out without too much loss of sanity (not that they care.... ) CV UPDATE 7:15 The time to panic is here! The 24 in KBS 24 stands for 24hr News programming...... Kindly disregard my previous writings.

Hey CV--yeah that KBS World time zone schedule doesn't work for America or Japan. Don't ask me why not. But even setting that aside, it looks like 13.2 is going to set its own schedule for the KBS programming. That's what they did in the past, remember, when they had the KBS rights the first time. That could work out much better for us, frankly, if they run the marquis shows at convenient times.
It looks like schedule information will be available on TVGuide.com. Our member ronin first pointed out the TVGuide.com and I'll repost ronin's instructions in a prominent place if it all checks out.

It is not possible to receive KBC out here in Mt.P, so I'll just have to be grateful for 24.5. Also, just happened to see a post that the Yi Sun Shin Chronicles are being offered on Youtube, just might have to look into that, but I really don't care to watch shows online for various reasons. Yeah, I saw that the actual KBS World site has a function to watch video on demand, but it's not available to be viewed in this country. The universe is making the situation quite clear, this is not to be and perhaps I was watching too many K-Dramas.

CV I can give you a rock-solid solution to your problem, but it won't come cheap. Remember those good old rooftop TV antennas? The ones everybody took down when they got cable? Get one of those and 13.2 comes in just fine. I'm in Arlington Heights and I have one, and the channel 13 group is great, solid picture, no problems.
But I totally understand your frustration. If KBS is going to make the effort to subtitle its programs, you'd think they'd want to do everything they can to get them in front of as many English-speakers as possible. But noooooo. Especially the lack of an online option, it's amazingly short-sighted. They do post episodes of some daily dramas on YouTube, but why they don't have their own DramaFever-type site is beyond me. Especially with such a big library of older shows just sitting on the shelf collecting dust.

Hi, kylee--thanks for joining us! A few months back, 13.2 acquired the rights to broadcast KBS shows. For the last few months both channels have been broadcasting different KBS shows at different times...but I guess the license that 24.7 had, it finally expired and now 13.2 has exclusive rights.
So sorry to hear you're not getting 13.2. I'm kind of surprised; UV isn't that far from the antenna. Try rescanning your TV. It's available on some cable systems...but of course if you don't have cable that doesn't help you. They really should boost the signal for 13.2; no reason the entire Chicago area shouldn't get it.

Hi, hochap--looking at your local uverse channels, I think you want 40, not 41.

It is 41 here.I've been watching it but there isn't a reliable schedule and I was wondering if it is the same as 13.3 It wasn't the same as the old 24.7.It's all very confusing and frustrating.I lost track of many of my dramas and have to find them online.
