This post is for episode 21 of Pride and Prejudice.
It's the final day for the statute of limitations on Byeol's case. Gwang Gook is on trial for Byeol's murder. The prosecution is led by Chief Moon and Dong Chi. Do Jung and Taek Gyun are the defense attorneys. The first witness is Soo. He testifies to being kidnapped by White Bear, taken to the factory in the trunk of a car and overhearing Gwang Gook saying that they should kill the kid. The defense questions the credibility of his testimony due to Soo suffering from amnesia and only regaining his memory recently. Yeol Moo's mom thanks Soo for being there for Byeol. The next witness is Ah Reum. Gwang Gook decides to show up for the trial. She testifies to overhearing Park Man Geun (Gwang Gook) talk about killing Byeol. When asked to identify him by photo, which includes Gwang Gook, she says that none of them are Man Geun. Young Chan is next up on the stand. He claims that Ah Reum wasn't at the villa, location from the sex video, and neither was Gwang Gook. Yeol Moo and Soo are out looking for a chip which they find on the homeless guy from a previous episode. Grandma from the boarding house puts some of Soo's things in a box including a pen that looks similar to the one White Bear had.
Back to the trial. Director Lee testifies to having ordered White Bear to kill Byeol. Chief Moon questions why Director Lee wanted to kill Dong Chi when they've never met. He plays the recording of Director lee that he got from Soon Bae. Chief Moon reads a transcript of the conversation he had with Director Lee from the prison in which he talks about remaining loyal to Hwayoung to stay alive. After a recess, the next witness is Dong Chi's dad. He testifies that Byeol was still alive and Gwang Gook was the one that killed him by starting a fire at the factory. When questioned by the defense, he confesses to killing White bear and burying his body. Dong Chi questions his dad about White Bear's death. His dad claims to have killed White Bear with a hammer. He was really killed with a metal pipe. Dong Chi confesses being the one that killed White Bear. Jang Won takes Dong Chi's place on the prosecution. The final person to take the stand is Gwang Gook. He testifies to not being at the factory and not murdering anyone. The prosecution plays a recording from the factory in which Gwang Gook tells Director Lee that they must kill the kid. The recording was made by White Bear and was given to Soo by Dong Chi's dad. Gwang Gook is sentenced to 20 years in prison. Chief Moon gets in his car and someone is waiting there to kill him. Forward to 3 years later. Dong Chi and Yeol Moo are in an empty courtroom. They make plans and head out. The end.

After watching the final episode, I can understand why they didn't show them in court more. The trial was a mess. You can't present new evidence to the court like that. The court has to first verify that the evidence is legit and how it was obtained. Soo and Dong Chi's dad wouldn't be credible witnesses. How did Do Jung end up working for the defense? And only 20 years for murdering a child? I'm not sure why the series was called Pride & Prejudice. This series was frustrating to watch. Hope you enjoyed it more than I did. Thanks for watching.
