There will be an upgrade between 4/29 and 5/29. The only two things that will affect you are:
1) Things may look different. Don't freak out....
2) CHECK YOUR PROFILE NOW!!!
Make sure you know your real sign-in name--not the "display name" but the username. Your username will not have any caps, so that's a clue--for instance, my display name is TheBo, but my username is thebo. See that?
Also, make sure it has a correct email account for you, because that is how Proboards will send you info if you need it.
The staff email account is, as you may recall, clubstaff @ gmail.com (no spaces remember), if you are stranded out there, but if your email is correct in your profile, you should be fine.

Okay everybody, at around 4:30 CDT today we were upgraded. No need to panic; this is what the upgraded version looks like. It will take a little getting used to, but everybody just slowly feel your way around and we'll all be fine. Supposedly there are some good new features in the upgrade, so we'll see if there's anything we can incorporate here.
P.S. One thing for now: those of you who had chosen an avatar from the group of ProBoards cartoon characters in the previous version, now you're getting that creepy alien egghead. To get rid of it, click on "Profile" up at the top of the main page, and then click the "Edit Profile" button on the right. You'll get the option to display no avatar, which will get rid of the alien.

Another update: the alien has been replaced by a more benign photo; you can still remove it if you wish, in the same manner. We'll look into the possibility of getting some stock avatars for people to chose from like the old version had.
Also, there will be some experimenting in the days and weeks to come with different fonts and color schemes. Don't be thrown by it; simply trying some new things to see if they make the forum look better. The color scheme will probably change; it doesn't work as well with the upgraded layout as it did with the old layout. If anybody has any suggestions or requests as far as anything to do with how the board looks or works, feel free to speak up! Always open to good ideas.

You had to change your display name? You should be able to go into your profile and change it back to DYC. If you can't, let us know and we'll try and do it for you.

TheBo and other administrators (aka Admin Saram) should be able to add more custom avatars. More (subtle) customizations are on the way, so feel free to offer suggestions or rant here.

Thanks to Michael for getting us on track. Except this upgrade looks GIGANTIC on my screen, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. DYC turning into MTR? Not so much. I suspect we won't be able to change his display name, Knov1, but we can contact someone who can do so, so let us know DYC/MTR. Poor sageuk. So panicky.

I must be the luckiest one here, as I haven't had any problems, but since the forum gets upgraded, it is difficult to open by mobile (Mobile WAP) because the loading is too long. Btw, I prefer this new interface to the previous one.

So far my biggest complaints are-- I don't like that posts say "3 hrs ago", instead of the actual time of the post-- it takes to much thought to figure what I have read earlier and what I haven't read since the last time I logged on...... Also, although I like the picture of Chicago at the top of the forum, it could be smaller, so that we could actually see some of the posts without having to scroll down. Does anyone know if there is a way we will know if someone sends us a PM? The old screen showed if you had a new message at the top of the screen.....

Yes, bird. Look at that horizontal list just below the city banner at the top of the board forum page. It says "Home Help Search" etc., and the last one is "Messages." Those are links. If there are changes in ANY of those items, it has a little, oh, I guess it's a dialog balloon on it with a number. For instance, right this minute I see my Profile has a "1"--I can't wait to see what THAT is. Anyway, your in box ("Messages") will show how many unread messages you have, and you can just click it.

Ok, thanks Bo-- not expecting any Pm's, but you just never know (also, I wish when you held the cursor over the smiley icon it told what that smiley meant- like wink, sad, ect.-- there are even some new ones that I have never seen)

I like your Chicago banner. More vitality to the page, not to mention an undeniable identity.
In an ideal world I would love to have an opt-in box that automatically sends a notice to our email inbox anytime a new post appears in a thread we're participating in. I already get that with another small site I participate in. For daily posters, that may be frivolous, but for those with plates piled high, a CKDF thread becomes as high priority as any other inbox items, and ensures we view responses when we sign in here.
