Upcoming film MonstrumTime period : King Jungjong of Joseon Kim Myeongmin(Yi Soon Shin in KBS Immortal Yi Soon Shin) has been cast as Yun Gyeom(fictional character) Park Heesun has been cast as King Jungjong en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jungjong_of_JoseonThe movie is based on the Annals of Joseon Dynasty description of a "water monster" attacking King Jungjong in the palace. Teaser Another version of trailer German shepherds at 22 seconds lol Who thought it was a good idea to use German Shepherds in a Joseon dynasty film? He was probably like we are making a fantasy film about monsters anyway so might as well add in some German shepherds as well lol

Shouldn't it be Jindo dogs? Jindos or any other Korean breeds such as Pungsan, Jeju, Dongyeong, Sapsari, and Bulgae.

Eh. Not a huge loss. There's way too many siege battles and we have Dae Jo Yeong to watch when it comes to dramatization of the Siege of Ansi.

Well let us know what you think of it, please by all means.
That Houston Chronicle review links to a Korea Herald review that's also positive but suggests it's sort of outlandish in some ways. But it wouldn't be the first time in a movie.

I went to see Ansi Fortress/the Great Battle last night. I liked it a lot. I can't vouch for whether the armor and weapons were authentic, or how well it followed real history. But I thought the battle scenes were very well done, good music, and very little of the silliness seen in the TV dramas. Very exciting and suspenseful even though I've seen it all before in DJY.
Secondary characters were pretty standard types for a war story, and adequate but not great. The Chinese characters spoke Chinese (with excellent articulation, must have gotten a lot of coaching).
Zo Insung was good, but very different from his DJY counterpart, and much less intimidating. Same for the Yeon Gosaemon actor. I still smile when I think about the scene in DJY where these two burly bada$$ generals are sitting at the table sipping tea and remarking on how exquisite it is. :-)
There was also a touch of Gogeoryo mythology that I enjoyed.

Sadly i missed it, but the DVD/BLU is coming soon.
Netflix do have a Joseon Dynasty Zombie program, but its a series, I'll post in K Drama section. Not to be confused with the Well Go film, even though they seem to share the same plot.
