Per my contacts, yesasia.com is going out of business.
Tomorrow.
The website lists an "annual clearance," but I've been told by a pretty good source that this is it forever.
Anyone else hear this? This morning, I was swimming, which seems to kick my brain into gear. My friend said "YA" was closing. I assumed he meant yesasia. He meant YA Entertainment. Go to the website if you want to take advantage of the deals on shows, because he's going out of business, and I have independent web confirmation. You should also know this might affect your ability to legally obtain such dramas as He's Beautiful, Jumong, Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Dae Jang Geum and Snow Queen, because this guy has exclusive distribution rights for these shows (in the US at least) and others I can't think of right now. If you really really want something that he has, I'd advise picking it up now. Also, some of his stuff was in the clearance sale on yesasia and you might still be able to get things there. That is all.

Well, that's too bad. Bob was able to get on the site this morning, but apparently it's shut down since then. I'll ask my friend if he knows anything and post here if I get a good address. But it might just be kaputski.
I wish I'd known about this earlier. Crud.

Bummer! Noticed on the Yes Asia site that most of the remaining YA offerings were MBS or SBS, with a KBS in there.
I wonder what this means for English subtitled dramas. I suppose there are a few other companies out there, and those will just pick up new dramas. Hope so!

I'm a little worried about what happens to all that "exclusive licensing rights"--does that mean nobody else can have it?

I supposed that would put a halt to a big chunk of English-subbed DVD's! Hopefully that just covers DVD sales and not other outlets.
