None of this info is a spoiler as of the episode currently airing. If a character is introduced in a later episode, he/she will be listed at that time and the episode number will be shown, in a different color. If a character is played by two actors, only the one that has already appeared will be listed until the adult version comes on.
IF YOU HAVE SUGGESTIONS, MAKE THEM BELOW. Needless to say, spoiler-free suggestions.
Kim Sun-woo (as adult-Uhm Tae-woong; as teen-Lee Hyun-woo): Sunwoo is a troublemaker who gets into fights a lot. Possible son of President Jin.
Lee Jang-il (adult-Lee Joon-hyuk; teen-Siwan): A mathematics genius, Jangil forms an unlikely friendship with Sunwoo while they are in high school.
President Jin (Kim Young-chul): A powerful and ruthless businessman. He may have been involved in criminal activity in his past. Certainly uses questionable tactics in present--for instance, is seen committing a crime in Ep.1. May be Sunwoo's birth father. I'll probably end up calling him "PJ."
Choi Soo-mi (teen-Park Se-young; adult Ep.4-Im Jung-eun): A sensitive artist who is unluckily the daughter of a shaman. Her romance with Jangil is nipped in the bud when he finds this out. Knew Sunwoo in their childhood.
Han Ji-won: (teen-Kyung Soo-jin) A mystery girl in Ep.1, she is the daughter of a businessman who is being destroyed by President Jin, either for fun or profit, we can't tell. She meets Sunwoo while she is destroying the windshield of President Jin's car. Jangil first sees her in concert in Ep.2.
Lee Yong-bae (Lee Won-jong): Jangil's father Mr. Lee is a rather sniveling, selfish fellow, drinks too much, gambles. Witnesses a crime in Ep.1.
Kim Kyung-pil (Lee Dae-yeon): Sunwoo's father Mr. Kim knows about President Jin's evil past. Has raised Sunwoo well, but apparently is not his real father. Comes to a sorry end in Ep.1.
Mr. Choi (Lee Jae-yong): Soomi's father, a shaman or soothsayer. Doesn't seem to get along well with her. Becomes more important to the story in Ep.2, as he too witnesses another crime. Some may recognize this actor as the evil prime minister in Jumong, the staid Lord Jang in Yi-san and many other "historical" roles.
Secretary Cha (Lee Seung-hyung): Secretary/assistant to President Jin. Oily, efficient, apparently ruthless himself.
Prosecutor Sunho/Joonho/Yoonsuk (Kang Jisub) – He’s called all these names in Ep.11, so we'll straighten it out later. He's going after President Jin for some murky dealings, but can't seem to get any real evidence about him. Good friends with Jangil. In Ep.12, his name appears to resolve into "Joonho." Even though the dramawiki gives the character's name as Choi Yoon-suk, I looked at the actor and it's clearly this guy who's being called Shin Joonho in Ep.12. Cannot get into HanCinema for love or money.
Sec. Koon (Kim Soo-hyun young / Jo Hee-bong older) - First Taejoo's, then David Kim's assistant. At first he only speaks English, but after the "adult" replacement comes in, he only speaks Korean.
Shin Jungmin (Park Jin-soo) - This guy is a law school friend of Jangil. Jangil asks him to cover up the case about the dad of "poor, deluded Sunwoo," but when the guy gets interested in the case instead, Jangil distracts him with a better case.
In episode 1, these are mentioned but not seen:
Moon Tae-joo (Jung Ho-bin=Ep.2): A man President Jin sent to jail in the distant past, after suspecting him of dallying with PJ's fiancee. (Mr. Kim said he was innocent.) In Ep.2, in Shanghai, he receives a posthumously delivered letter from Mr. Kim. In episode 4, it appears that Taejoo also thinks he's Sunwoo's father--or is just saying that for his own reasons. I am dumb as a stump. Up to Ep.9, and I just now realized that Jung Ho-bin is also Munno (in QSD)--that's why he was so familiar to me. D'oh.
The fiancee (her name was Eun-hye): Apparently President Jin's past machinations caused her early death while giving birth to his son (probably Sunwoo). I cannot find a credit for this actor. If someone recognizes her, please let me know.
Becoming important in Episodes 3 & 4:
Park Yoonjo (Kim Hye-eun): stepdaughter of President Jin. Talented classical singer but to mother's chagrin, wants to go into business at President Jin's company. Has a good relationship with him.
Geumjool (teen Lee Chan-ho; adult Park Hyo-joon): School friend of Jangil and Sunwoo. Very loyal to Sunwoo. As a boy, has a very chubby face so is quite recognizable and (dare I say it) sweet.
Ma He-jung, wife of President Jin (Cha Haw-yeon): more minor role, but pretty important I think.
