Ep.75 –
Building at Suwon nearly finished, San promotes everyone involved except Officer Suh, who starts to cut up and cause trouble. Sir Min sees this and engineers meetings in order to recruit Suh to the rebel Noron cause. He gives Suh money when he gets injured in a drunken brawl and later, Suh, on spy duty, captures Min, recognizes him and lets him escape.
In a private moment, San mourns Song, as do Hyeoui, Lady Kim and Chobi. But the entourage gets ready, including D-Hye who will have her birthday celebrated at Suwon and be installed in a private estate along with her husband’s tomb. [Sounds kinda icky.] The procession is seen crossing Mr Jung’s wonderful new pontoon bridge. At the new palace, there’s a big party.
The Noron plan is to kill the king at Suwon, but Sir Choi now changes it--they’ll ambush San on the road during a sliver of time when he won’t be guarded by the Dragons. Later that night, Lord Jang visits San to advise him not to move the capital to Suwon because he’ll be challenged by the nobles, but San exhorts him to join this cause so the people can come out from under the nobles’ thumbs and Joseon can be a stronger nation, stronger than Qing.
At Sado’s tomb, D-Hye thanks San for freeing her from her burdens. Meanwhile, Min meets Suh and confirms fortress guard arrangements. At a local temple, while the Dragon Guard is deployed elsewhere, assassins gather but are surprised by Dragon Guards and arrested. Suh comes upon this scene, but leaves.
Sir Min is ambushed in the woods by DS + Kang. Min is brought before San. Again, Suh watches, a little smile on his face, and leaves. DS + Kang go to arrest Sir Choi and other Norons, but they’ve mysteriously disappeared. The roads are blockaded against their escape, and San tells D-S to go forward with the night training exercises.
Officer Suh confesses to D-S and Kang that his situation was a setup (between San and Suh) to tempt the Norons into recruiting him. They congratulate themselves on predicting the temple attempt, but D-S is concerned that the plotters were caught so easily—as though they put themselves out there to be caught. Suh poo-poohs this idea and they go to the fortress.
At a secret location, Sir Choi and the relevant Norons talk about the fact that Sir Min was merely bait to lull San into a false sense of security. It’ll all be over in one hour!
Training commences with San and ministers watching. Artists Tak and Lee tell the damos that soon all the fires will be put out and it will be dark, just like a siege. Outside the gates, Suh learns from D-S’s lookalike that the East Gate guards are not Dragons, while at the East Gate, a bunch of assassins are admitted. Suh slowly lumbers through his memory banks and…puts it all together. He runs to D-S and Kang, shouting that it’s a trap—“They’ll strike when the fires go out!”
San, Lord Jang, et al. watch the troops make their passes and swoops. Sir Chae orders the fires put out, and they are. Assassins silently run across the wall-tops. BUT! San sees them….

This the 8-Days’ Mystery part, right? Loved the “enemy troops”—were they supposed to be Qing do you suppose in those hats, or Japanese?
It looks to me as though Gyun Mi-ri (D-Hye) was shot separately from everyone else—she’s only shown alone for a second or two at a time, with different backgrounds. This is especially noticeable when she’s supposedly in her palanquin and clearly is just in front of some brocaded wall. But then she later is certainly at Sado’s burial ground with Lee Seo-jin, so I dunno.
Those monks "feel" like real monks. Something about the guy who talks to San seemed fer-reeels.
