If you're reading this post, I'd appreciate it if you could do me a huge favor. If you could please head over to DramaFever and try playing a drama episode in your browser. Doesn't matter which drama it is. Pick whichever you'd like. You don't need to play the entire episode. Just a few minutes worth. If you use multiple browsers, please try this in each of your browsers. I've tested DramaFever in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Opera on multiple computers [using Windows 7, Vista and XP] and had no issues with any of those browsers. If you have issues with the site while watching an episode, please reply to this post and let me know which drama you were watching, which episode it was and at what point during the episode you had the issue, and which browser you were using. I want to see if any members have issues with the site and if it's related to a particular browser. If you can post what your operating system is, if you have broadband or dial-up, that would be helpful as well. Please continue to provide feedback. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I watched You're Beautiful a few months back...and I didn't have any problems watching it. I use Internet Explorer. I used Windows XP at that time on a broadband connection (wifi).

I guess you have to sign in for a free whatever to see much. It only played about 30 seconds.
Second time, it played for nearly 10 minutes, then a commercial. I still haven't signed up. The picture is excellent, using Firefox on my Mac. I was watching Damo. I forgot that it began with the ending, before we knew who was who. Oh, another commercial. I shouldn't be watching this late, anyway... And, another commercial.... yikes, it's so hard to stop watching! I shut the tab, finally. It works very well.

Well now, wouldn't you know that I'd be the only one having issues with DramaFever . I tried watching the episode #1 of the SBS drama "Sign," and when it was running, the images were a bit jumpy (I don't know if it was my computer, or if that's just the nature of DramaFever videos). But the real issue is that every two minutes or so, the video froze as the incoming stream tried to catch up. Things would stay frozen for 30-40 seconds, and then the action would resume, only to freeze up again a few minutes later. I watched it stop-and-start for about 20 minutes, and then I called it quits. This isn't really anything new for me, as YouTube videos have long behaved similarly. For a while, I solved that problem by using freeware called "You Tube Downloader". I just started the video, placed it in "pause," and then switched on the YTD. It saved the video nicely to my hard disk (it did take quite a while, though, even for a four-minute music video) and it allowed me to watch the video later on without any interruptions. And, if I liked it, I could even save it as a mp4 file (the big downside to YTD: I got forced, pop-up advertising). But YTD has quit working for me of late, making we wonder if YouTube has done something to defeat the downloading software. In any case, I've got music videos featuring everyone from Eddie Rabbit to Led Zeppelin now gracing my C-drive. But, unless I can find a similar fix for DramaFever, it's not going to work for me. Although I've got DSL, I live out in the boonies, and I've often wondered if it's delivering a substandard data flow. My DSL is noticeably quicker than the satellite internet I was using previously (by "Wild Blue") and it's about a million time better than the old dial-up I used a while back . . . but maybe it's just not good enough. I'm also using the motherboard's on-board graphics setup, rather than a high-end add-on card. I don't know if something like that might help with the jumpy video. I'm not a "gamer," and since the music videos I've downloaded all play okay, I've never really felt the need for anything more sophisticated. Computer: Gateway DX-4822, Pentium Dual-Core CPU, 2.60GHz Memory: 6.00GB System Type: 64-bit Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium Web Browser: IE-8 Internet Connection: Qwest DSL

Getting back to the original intent of this thread, I'd love to see some consensus on how this board should be set up for the future. Clearly, there are still a lot of K-Drama fans out there, and while it's a pity that Channel 41 has given up on trying to deliver anything resembling programming of the quality we were used to, there are more options than ever to watch both current and older Korean dramas. Ironically, since WOCH's descent into arirangness, Joanie and I have seen some of the best programming since the Age of Warriors/Jang Geum days. A lot of it is thanks to the koreandramas.net video club and dramafever and its competitors. In the last year, we've watched two of the better modern dramas in recent years, Master of Study and Life is Beautiful and Hur June/Huh Joon, a historical drama from 2000 that easily made my All Time Top 5, as well as the movies and series on MHz. A possible answer is to have an On Air section of the forum that has the most popular of the currently broadcast series from all the networks. DramaFever's current series would work fine just to give the board some structure. The other possibility would be to start threads in the On Air section if there was enough interest in the Other Shows section. Dong Yi, for example, was a program that had so many posts that it clearly would earn its own sub-Board. I'd love to see this board return to being a more vital forum. I miss a lot of my old friends here (Lucy and JP, where are you??) and there are still a lot of series worth watching. My favorite at the moment is Choi Soo Jong's new series, President.

Well now, wouldn't you know that I'd be the only one having issues with DramaFever If I could make a few suggestions. Try using Firefox and see if some of your issues aren't IE related. Make sure you have the latest version of flash player. You need to uninstall any previous versions of flash before installing the new one. Check out Freemake Video Downloader for saving Youtube videos. It supports a bunch of websites besides Youtube.

So far it seems like everyone is on board or at least willing to give it a shot. The staff has a general concept in place for the new format so we should be able to get started with a trial run soon. Expect an announcement sometime this week.

Will the "Off Air" board still be around? I'm relatively new to K dramas and check out this board as I watch the older shows.
by the way, I like the new concept with Drama Fever

I would like to see a common place given for watching dramas, I miss reading what others think about the dramas they are watching. I was reading posts about Grand Chef/Goumet, but I could never catch up to the others watching to make a post, I did enjoy what people had written when I did finally reach that episode.... I am currently watching Dream High".

You need to uninstall any previous versions of flash before installing the new one. Well, I downloaded Firefox (I had it on my old computer, but I just never got around to downloading to my new computer) and unfortunately there was no obvious difference in performance between IE and Firefox. I also did download the latest version of Adobe Flash (in fact, Firefox practically forced me to, as DramaFever on Firefox wouldn't even run without that latest version of Flash) but it didn't seem to make any improvement. Haven't had time to try that out yet (my weekend project, I guess) but it does look promising. If it really will work with the Adobe Flash video on DramaFever, it could solve all my issues.

I posted an announcement for the launch of the new format yesterday. If you have any thoughts, comments or questions about it, you can post about it here or in the announcement thread. As I mentioned in the announcement thread, if you playback issues with DramaFever, feel free to use another site that offers the dramas in the lineup. We'll be using DramaFever as our base so we recommend trying them out first. If not, go with that works for you.

Everyone, I really recommend you sign up for a free account. It doesn't ask you for personal info, like your credit card (unless you decide to get premium service). It keeps a list of what you are watching and where you are in each episode. Just do it. The commercials are an annoyance, but that's what you had with free telly, right? You can't buzz through them, but you can get up,stretch or get a glass of water. You can't pause during a commercial, but you can immediately after one. They're mostly about 15-30 seconds long, not too long a wait. Bo
