Hi, I just encountered a list of all-time best Korean dramas. Take note that it doesn't reflect an international all-time best of K-dramas because most k-dramas seen by non-Korean audiences do not go back before perhaps 2001-02 which is probably just when the first Korean Wave started to happen overseas. (This is a bit dated by 5 years but I think it still stands..."Jumong" may have made it in later) farahshar.multiply.com/journal/item/41That is too bad because some of the best k-dramas of all time in my opinion were produced. My ssn, "moreshige" or "sandglass" is a drama not to be missed. By now I'm sure many people know of this drama because you can purchase it online. But most dramas made before 2000 is very scarce or simply unavailable. If you can, watch "Eyes of the Dawn" made around 1992 (I promise you won't regret it). I remember being impressed with this drama in Korea when I visited back then (1992). But I didn't know it won so many awards! Check out other people's reviews: thundie.wordpress.com/2009/01/15/eyes-of-dawn/www.koreandramaonline.net/the-eye-of-dawn-korean-theater-1991-e08-1.htmlYou can watch some episodes here: www.dramastyle.com/drama/Eyes-of-Dawn-Korea-Drama/

It's been at least two years since you last posted. Drama looks interesting to watch. I need to see the horrors during the Japanese occupation.
Choi Jae-sung? Wait, didn't he play Won GYun in IYSS?

Never heard of Sandglass but not keen in seeing massacres and more !!!! from the Japanese. I always go in a boil when I thnk of their "happy past times / hobbies" when they rampaged about.
But nice to see the list! Thanks for posting it, moreshige2 .

Yes, he did. But he was much younger of course! In fact, you'll recognize many more actors because this drama employed I believe over a hundred actors not including extras. If you want to see an example of an epic k-drama, this is the mother of all k-dramas. Just copy and paste the actual Korean title on youtube and you'll get better results: 여명의 눈동자

Its funny on how different they looked. Choi Jae-sung is thinner (he's alot more wider these days-I guess his stardom got him access to more food) and Chae Sira looks attractive.
Did what you said...nothing but clips and specials. BUt even so, I can still feel the opressive and gritty era of the colonial period, the hardships during the changing times and the tragic romance. I once thought up of a narration of these hardships. "On 1945, Korea liberated from the oppressive rule under the Japanese Empire. The people of the country only lived to face another nightmare: a civil war on the peninsula".
But seriously, do they really have to do make out scenes alot? I Have heard, however, that WithS2 Sub group is planning to sub the series at some point.
I wonder what place some of the more recent dramas would have been placed? Well, considering that today's drama's ratings aren't as high as they used to be, not too many would make the list. Queen Seondeok and Jumong might though.
If I had to choose the dramas from that list, my favorites would be (no particular order):
Immortal Yi Soon Shin
Dae Jang Geum
The ones I'm interested in watching are Emperor Wang Guhn, Tears of the Dragon, Huh Joon; you can tell I'm a historical drama fan. Age of Warriors isn't on the list. Guess it wasn't very popular in Korea

There were at least 2 dramas listed only in Korean. I agree with your list of favorites.
