Double standard on acting in the family?

Why is it okay (from Min-joo's perspective) for Sun-joo to pursue her acting career and not for her father-in-law to resume his?

Is it just that the sister's career has more glamor potential than the father-in-law's, or is it just that Min-joo now doesn't feel like she cares enough to intrude on her sister's life?

What I'd like to see happen? Sun-joo suggests her in-law for a major role in her new movie!

There is no difference. Min-joo and her stepmother both disapproved rather vehemently of Sun-joo's meteoric launch into a modeling/acting career. Only Sang-min was at all positive about it, possibly because he comes from a family with a person in the entertainment industry.

I'm sure MJ and SJ's mother would stop SJ if they could; but as SJ is an adult and has the job offers coming in, there's not much they can do to stop her. They could throw her out of the house, I suppose, but I can't imagine them going to that length.
It would be much less respectable for a young, single woman from a "good" home to live on her own, away from her family than to work as a model and actress.

As for Woon-kyu not being able to get work because his daughter-in-law's family disapproves, we have only his word on that. She hasn't tried to stop him from working before, and we know he's had other jobs before this recent dry spell. It seemed quite obvious to me he was using MJ's fictionalized disapproval as an explanation for his current lack of work when talking to Ms. Jo rather than tell the truth...the truth being he's in a bad slump right now.

Both Minjoo and Mrs. Jo should be happy that she's not just walking aimlessly around the house like she was before.

We've seen her smile more than ever before. ;D I wonder if Sunjoo and her manager will get together and what her family's reaction will be?
