Looks like Yellow Handkerchief is really going for ratcheting up the twisting of the heartstrings here to wring out every last fan tear it can w/ this Ja-young-Young-joon break-up. I can confess to my fellow addicts that I bawled like a baby at the end of today's episode...especially when I saw the previews of Young-joon's scenes, which I could only observe, not understand. It really does appear the poor, unsuspecting lout will not find out in time and Ja-young will make her secret exit before he knows what hit him.
What torment it must've been for Ja-young spending those last hours w/ the love of her life, all the while him beaming at her, blissfully ignorant of the horror about to befall him. How can it be a smart guy like this didn't catch on to all her verbal hints, most notably her use of past tense? Blinded by love is the only excuse I can think of. Poor Young-joon. He's gonna feel like Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, standing on that train station platform in the pouring rain reading Ingrid Bergman's abrupt and unexplained good-bye note, the ink running in the rain as the page gets soaked while he's reading it...that's going to be how Young-joon feels when he reads Ja-young's horrible words.
And this is slightly off-topic, but I just had to comment on one other thing: could you all believe that Hyun-ji today? That she-devil defines the word "nerve" and "chutzpah". I couldn't believe her demanding an invitation in to join them, after showing up uninvited and unannounced, no less---and then chastizing them for shacking up, according to her assumptions. And then running back to Grandma to tattle. I wasn't moved one bit by her crocodile tears...was anyone else?
The worst part is, I'd bet the farm she'll listen to Grandma Sohn and stick around a while longer to see what scraps she might be able to cadge, despite yet another "threat" of hers to give up and go ahead. Yeah, right. And I'm Condoleeza Rice.
Jade Eyes (stocking up on tissues for the next ep.)
