The tv drama is based on the book DAE WANG SEJONG by Chung Hwa Pak and the good news is it was translated into English in 1980 . Bad News there are about 200 copys in libraries across the U.S ,I have been trying to get a copy to read through the inter library loan system for about 4 weeks with little luck . Also if you have a Library Card you can access JSTOR (The Eng Language Bible of Asian History )and there you will find many great articles on Sejong and Joseon Dynasty .

That's actually a good tip about JSTOR. For those who aren't familiar with it, JSTOR is an electronic database of academic journal articles. You can find all kinds of articles about virtually anything there. Some of the stuff isn't the easiest to read, as you might guess. But if you're looking for lots of solid information on a topic, it's a good place to look.
On the book: If you do manage to get a copy, let us know what you think of it. (I'm surprised that ILL is having so much trouble; it should be easy for them with 200 copies available.) If you want your own copy and are willing to pay $35 for it, go to bookfinder.com and type "Sejong" into the title search box and you can find a few used copies there. Either way I'd be interested in knowing if it's worth reading.

It looks like my local library has a copy of another book by the same author, "Samguk chi." Looks like it's in Korean...
