I find her character very annoying and not americanized enough. I know you're probably like 'why pick on such small details' but her character still bugs me. What I don't understand is why this particular actress was cast for this role. If they wanted someone for a Korean-American role they could've very easily gotten someone who is Korean-American. There's quite a few celebrities in Korea who are actually from the US (mostly in the music industry though). And even if you don't get someone who's Korean-American, I can think of quite a few actresses who would've been better for this role. Even if it's not a big role, I don't see why anyone would turn it down. From what I've heard, YH is very popular and even before it started you could guess that it would get good ratings based on the story and the actors in the drama. I've seen some dramas get extremely good ratings just based on the cast alone.

Yes, she is annoying, and her poor English skill distracted me from what was happening in the overall plotline.
But it seems this is common in Asian dramas. Here in Los Angeles, there’s a Japanese series currently running (“Sakura”) where the lead character is supposedly a third-generation Japanese-American (born and bred in Hawaii) who returns to Japan to teach English. But the actress’ English is SO BAD that it’s absolutely grating for anyone who might be a native-English viewer.
Of course, most of the native audience (be it Japanese or Korean) won’t notice a thing, so I guess it doesn’t matter to the producers that a handful of Americans wince every time their chosen actress attempts English . . .

Well, I guess it is more important for them to speak good Korean instead of good English since the scene's including english conversations are so few.
Also, I guess it might be harder for them to speak passable english because isn't the way we pronounce things and the way they pronounce things different? For example, isn't it the Japanese who pronounce "Ls" like "Rs"? Or is it the other way around?

That Hyun-ji sure has a high opinion of herself. Can you imagine how great she must think she is that she can say without flinching, "I never knew I would become so pathetic. I always thought I was better than everybody else.". Since we are all picking on her character, something that has been bothering me for a while has been her fashion sense. This girl is supposed to be a highly-paid NYC lawyer, what's up with the fuscia shirts and the blue eyeshadow? ALWAYS! She and Grandma Sohn wear their pants at the same height. Very high. ;D

Hyun-ji is SOOOOOOO annoying. I was so mad when she went to talk to Ja-young at her workplace. Everytime I see Hyun-ji get in the business of Young-joon and Ja-young, I just want to *SLAP* her!! I mean, really! She is the one who needs to leave. And what's up with her "I can't leave because of Grandma" and she's telling Young-joon that she'll leave once Young-joon moves back in. PLEASE!!!! Do you think she's really going to do that? But on another note.....having her here is creating interesting drama on the show. ;D
