Many of the characters in "Dae JoYoung" have one or two quotes that they use over-and-over-and-over again. Sometimes it just becomes part of the character's personality, and at other times?... well, at other times I think they just run out of things to say. It can be annoying, but often enough you just get a good laugh. In any case, I decided it was time to write some of them down! ;D Here I wrote an assortment of characters (in no particular order) with his/her most used or over-used quote. Enjoy! (And please-- feel free to post a few yourself!) Dae JoYoung: "I have a plan." Li Wen: "I have never been so humiliated!" Heuk Sudol: "That blasted bastard..." Li Kaigu: "This can't be happening!" Gaepilsamon (the Turk): "Hey! Who am I? I'm the Wolf of Madu!" Mimosa: "I happened to come up with a strategy." The Tang Emperess: "What! Dae JoYoung?!" Gulsabiwu: "There's no time for this!" ~thanks, tinkerbellXue Rengui: "That little punk!" ~thanks, pabomanduMore quotes coming soon .....

After a time, maybe you can do a poll or two, to see which phrase felt the most overused. My choice would be Gaepilsamon with "... I'm the Wolf of Mt. Madu!" Put all the scenes where he says that, and i bet you'd have a full episode

Besides the above mentioned quotes, they are some words/phrases that are more modernized and inappropriate for the time period. (Of course, I can't think of them now!) It must be difficult to do the translations without adding in modern idioms/words/phrases.

My nomination is not a quotation, exactly. It's Emperor Wu's famous, staccato laugh when she thinks he has someone right where she wants him. "Ha-ha-ha-ha!" I estimate she laughs as much as she speaks.

Do mannerisms count?
Sukyeong until just recently would shift her eyes to the left everytime she had a line. I mean "every" time…
I think that's where Beyonce got the intro idea for her song a while back: To the left, to the left, to the left…

It must be difficult to do the translations without adding in modern idioms/words/phrases. One phrase that comes to mind is when Xue says "What the..." that just looks weird.

Also, Sukyeong does this thing with her mouth... can't quite explain it but it's like a grimace while swallowing? The best I could do.

You're right about Sukkyoung's facial expression (or lack thereof). Every time she says something her eyebrows wiggle up and down and she purses her mouth. This probably explains why some viewers think she's so prissy. Which brings us to Chulin and her darting eyes. Back and forth, back and forth (discussed in other threads). The "My Man" expression was heard really often in Yi Soon Shin. It must be some stock Korean form of address that doesn't translate readily into English. Let's not forget Xue Rengui's cross between a sigh and a grunt which I always interpret as "This is giving me such a headache...". As far as phrases translated badly, one of my favorites was said by Li Haigu: "We're darned if we do and darned if we don't". I kid you not.
