jinjuI saw the news this morning. I'm glad everything is alright. Magnitude 5.2 is quite strong. It's very unusual to have earthquakes in Mid-West. It's common in California, so I'm used to it. Sometimes, I slept through the whole thing. Anyhow, it's still scary. I really like Yi San. All those twists and turns are very entertaining. Kudos to the writers! I enjoy watching them outwit one another. By the way, it's Prince Yi San who introduced free trade, not the western world, lol. I hope to catch up with you soon. jinju, I'm going to see Crystal tomorrow. I'll let you know if Forbidden Kingdom lives up to the hype or not. I wish you and your family an enjoyable and safe weekend. ;D

Thanks for the new link NENE. I'm glad you enjoyed THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM. I knew it had to be good. The movie was #1 at the Box Office this weekend taking in $20.9 million. I haven't seen it yet, but the previews looked action packed

tinkerbellYou're welcome. ;D I've been searching for Four Gods streaming sites for you, but still no luck yet. I read somewhere they got a stern warning. That's why it's very difficult right now. For me, I downloaded from the site above. If I'm not mistaken, jinju bought the bootleg and she even stayed up very late to watch it from Korea that time. I mocked her for that. I'll keep you posted. ;Dtinkerbell, I'm wondering if you know why "salt" is important. I've seen quite a few K-dramas, including Four Gods, and they mentioned about salt. I don't believe it's used to melt snow, right?hehehe I'm just curious. ;D

Hi Nene, Thanks for the site! It seems that you know almost everything. Well, I have a “challenge” for you (just joking…). I bought the OST of "Dae Joyoung" and I just love the “Opening Theme” (first song) that sounds like a “National Anthem”. I was wondering if it is about Koguryo or Balhae? Do you know anybody who speaks Korean and has the OST? I would like to have the “loose” translation of the first song (title: “Uhmuhni eh nara”). Thanks in advance... almos almos You got me! Sorry, you're not the first one who challenged me. It's tinkerbell. She asked me to find IYSS OST, but I failed miserably. I was very disappointed that nobody wanted to translate this awesome song. I like it too. I thought DJY was very popular. I don't have any Korean friend, but I'll keep looking. It may show up one day. ;DAnyhow, I found EMPEROR OF THE SEA OST with English translation. Just for fun. The link is here:

Thank you Nene for your hard work! I am going to try to post it on the "General" board. Maybe more people could see it.

NENE, In ancient times, salt (or the lack of it) could drastically affect the health of entire populations. Trade in salt was very important, and salt was valuable enough to be used as currency in some areas. It was used to flavor food but the most important reason was the preservation of food. There weren't any refrigerators so food (such as meat) had to be preserved with salt to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungus. Salt was also used to treat infections. Since salt is a biological necessity of human life, the trade in salt was very important in ancient times. The business of salt extraction, transport, and trade formed an important base for political power as well as personal wealth. Empires were built on the salt trade. In some trading cities salt could be traded ounce-for-ounce for gold.

Hi Nene,
I have the English translation of “Uhmuhni eh nara”. Some Korean guy on another k-drama fan site was so nice and translated it for me.
It's title 'Uhmuhni eh' means Mother's and 'nara' means nation, or land or in this case kingdom.
Mother’s Land (or Kingdom) by Joo Byung-Sun
Is a ray of sunshine behind dark clouds a shred of hope? Whose bloods are morning dew on a blade of grass? Until lakes dry out and become a road and a rock becomes dirt, There is one keen yearning I have, that is my mother’s land
Shouts and cries in that day have passed over time But was a 1000 years old moonlight Mother’s tear?
There is a song that does not change when the world changes A song of grasses and a song we sang when all of us cried and laughed The voice of Mother, Mother’s Land (or kingdom)
