After watching the Monday night episode (Monday as in Mar. 12th), it seems to me that Yeon Gaesomun's second-to-oldest son, Namgeon , has toughened up quite a bit. He was just a monk who knew absolutely nothing about politics or warfare, who didn't know if he was coming or going as the Supreme Commander, and who was always under "Pew" Kwon's thumb. It seems that Namgeon has finally come into his own; did you see how he bellowed those orders like nobody's business? He's more like his father than he has ever been. I might even say the same for the Gorguryeo king. He was always going about things wearily, and ever sighing about the country's state of health. And again...he was, if not under his thumb, but badly influenced by "Pew" Kwon and the other court officials. It seems to me that he has become more decisive, and is less dependent on the court officials for a solution. My opinion, of course...

Ihave to say I agree...he has really come into his own. I wasn't sure about what kind of person he was going to become(it seemed a little iffy for a while, when he was listening to Bu Kiwon) but he has turned into a good leader.
The actor who plays Namgeon looks familiar...does anyone know what other shows he's been in?

I think both the King and the commander are at their best here. The Commander would have none of the surrender and seemed quite independent sitting at table with the retainers and his fellow warriors. He comes across as someone who is poised, confident and ready to lead.

It was quite a shock for me. I've stopped watching the show for quite a while. Mainly because I was annoyed by the constant bombardment of Chulin and the actor who plays Haego/Kaigu. But I was surprised to see Namgeon as SC and the king being so forceful in today's episode. Wasn't expecting that AT ALL. It's good. Is Namgeon any good guys?

I think that you see Namgeon change a little when he saw all the people standing outside the wall to stop them from bringing Yang Manchun into the city. Then, he was a lot of his people dead because they were sticking up for there last pillar Yang Manchun. I think thats when he started to change a little

Namgeon is great, Bae; it is really unbelievable to see the transformation in character!

Thanks guys! I really never thought he was a bad guy- just blinded by his views. I hope this change is here to stay though.

I think there's no going back for Namgeon. He's his own man now and his sympathies are with the warriors and the nation fighting for survival.

Good. He seemed to be trying to find himself earlier. He doesn't appear that conflicted anymore. I hope he makes a good leader, in the show anyway.

Good. He seemed to be trying to find himself earlier. He doesn't appear that conflicted anymore. I hope he makes a good leader, in the show anyway. SPOILERS FROM REAL HISTORY: None of YGSM's sons were good leaders in real history. In real history, Namseng ends up betraying his country for Tang China and lives happily ever after.
Namgeon ends up being exiled to nowhere in China after Goguryeo is gone.
Namsan dies of disease, I think. I'm not really sure about Namsan.
Sickened by his nephews, Yeon Jungto, YGSM's younger brother, surrenders to Shilla.
(This isn't a spoiler. This is real history) Moderator: I think it's a spoiler if it tells the end of the story. Where's the suspense then?

Thanks anyway, Truth. I really wanted to stay away from thinking about the historical aspect of this show because I think that it takes away from it in a way, but this is insightful nonetheless. I just hope it's not foreshadowing anything.

That's very interesting, Truth. You seem to know a lot abut Korean history, by the way .
